Seems something is brewing. Hard to say for certain, but I have seen email this morning with what appear to be some doubt about next SPARC chip fate. Good luck to you all

@2ath :
What do you mean by M9 in Execution Mode? M9 the chip or M9's (aka Executive VP's)
When you joined sun.
M9 IS IN TRUE EXECUTION MODE NOW. Get your blindfolds.
2Days to D day... a lot inoocent victims going get killed by Sun management ... Sunset.. sad..
How do you figure 7 years becomes 10 weeks?
So for those who are ex-Sun, is your years of employment calculated from when you joined Sun or from when change-of-control happened?
If it's the latter, that's just over 7 years so it translates to 10 weeks. If it's the former, a lot of us will probably max-out at 6 months.
You can do a 'verifyfast' under self service -> other services -> income verification, check your employment status there.
Anyone can check it. I just did. Go to self service apps->myhr->personal information
Left side, click third icon down in the tab. If you hover over it it will say "Employment Details"
On the employment history timeline, hover on right icon to advance the time line.
I had the same two changes and I am in Microelectronics.
The prior post was by an M4, so you would need access to the management side of myhr to see the HR transaction details.
@OSTemux-1pjp How do we check our HR transaction?
Things that make you go Hmmmm. Every person in our department has two mysterious HR transactions on their record as "job change". One date 5/27 and one dated 6/1. This was weeks before the reorg. And why two, the reorg may have required one at most. More likely the reorg would not require individual records be updated, just the reporting structure of the department number.
Does sick leave get paid out?
I presume no.
@OSTemux-1egt Winter has arrived.
To the person who heard about Solaris being targeted in September, any idea on a date? I know it will be a Thursday.
Ohh is it ? never new 60 days thing notice .
"I never thought i'll get a salary for not working at all in today's age ..."
That's basically what WARN is, you get 60 days notice before the layoff, and you don't work. Of course, given the current situation you don't know if you're going to get cut or not, and have to decide if you're going to start hunting for a new job before it's official, and job hunting can be a job in and of itself, depending on your location.
100/hr watching game of thrones. This is the life.
I never thought i'll get a salary for not working at all in today's age ...
Oracle is great ....
makes sense since M9 is dead
The current rumor is that only HW groups will be hit on 8/24 and the SW (Solaris) will get its turn a few weeks later.
a timestamp is in the code as well - they just have javacript convert it to "hours ago" format...
[time itemprop="datePublished" datetime="2017-08-22T00:40:14Z"><abbr class="timeago" title="2017-08-22T00:40:14Z"]
@jmk Hover over that "hours ago" or "minutes ago" hyperlink, a date/hour stamp will show up.
They (layoff.com) is tracking time in GMT
SPARC engineered systems are put on EOL path. SEs are asked to slow down.
These comments are useless without date stamps.
If no more processors road map .. them HW mucroelectronics is dead
Thursday something big is going down. It may or may not include microelectronics.
Flip your coin.
Are you for real right now?
