Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon DM made racist statements and kept job!

Verizon retail DM made racist remarks over the past several years and kept his job! HR covered it up due to his sales performance. Many of you have similar stories. Lowell should be outraged and conduct an internal investigation of HR to find out why the coverups happen across the country. Maybe we have to leak to the press or will Verizon finally get rid of the racist within this company!

News Flash: VZ only cares about race when others are looking. They love to promote traditionally underrepresented minorities at the expense of white employees because that garners them awards from race/ethnic-based organizations and doing it doesn't hurt the leadership. However, if dealing with racism will impact the leaderships' bottom line, they turn a blind eye.

What did he say? Was it that he would like to hire the most qualified person for the job? That would be worthy of a VZ reprimand, for certain.

Everyone in this world is racist in one way or another. Not just by skin color but racism exists in all forms and will always exist. I too am hispanic and I don't let the things that people say in just speaking bother me. All I care about is being free, having a job, being able to take care of my family and the future of my children. I don't try to knock the rich down because they chose to succeed. Too many people hate the rich because they too aren't rich. Too many people in this country want everything handed to them. They feel the rich owe it to them. No one owes you anything. Go out and work and prove your worth. If it's not with Verizon, then find another company. I worked for Verizon for 15 years and now am happily employed elsewhere taking home just as much money. But you make your own destiny. Don't blame others for what you don't have and quit playing the racism game. Too many non-white races are prejudice again white people so what makes you any different. Grow some tough skin and go out and succeed and quit blaming the racist game. Be thankful we live in America where you can voice your concerns.

Too many folks are to quick to call someone racist when they're just making a stereotype statement. Most folks don't care what color your skin is. I'm Hispanic and when growing up I was called a wetback many times, and I would say... I know you are but what am I, and move on with my life.

Ignoring that racism exists is part of the problem and it is quite apparent with the posts I've seen in this forum and in particular in this post. When people post "who cares", you are part of the problem. Racism has never gone away, it was always there. When you are not subjected by it and it is quite apparent from those that are posting, you'll never understand the level of hatred thrown towards people for just being you. Racism has been around and was just hidden from many. Just because there was a Civil Rights movement, it doesn't mean that it magically disappeared. Shame on all of you for not recognizing that.

Race will stop being as huge a problem as soon as the left stops using it to further their agenda....

Putting people into groups in the first place is what causes the problem instead of trying to get the groups to get along stop classifying them at all so that each person can stand more on his or her merits or deficiency.

You should hear the racist, misogyny, homophobic statements being made in outside plant garages and central offices ... your ears will burn

70,000+ people work there. Statistically, you'll always have racists. You'll always have people who cheat, steal, and are into child porn. You'll always have people who drink on the job, or drink and drive. What's it like living in your fantasy world?

That's what this country has come to. Everyone constantly scrutinizing everything someone says as racist. Start focusing on the real picture, economy, structure and jobs...... and stop focusing on constant racism. Everybody is so sensitive anymore. This country is going downhill because of people's thin skins.
