Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Managers always watching, never doing

I don't know if it's just my store or what but I swear it's never good enough.

We are required to set monthly commitments. If your commitment is around HUM and you sell a tablet or jet pack or whatever else you still fail.

Our quotas are ridiculous so every month it's more and more degrading. At least before we were getting paid well to humiliate ourselves with customers explaining and apologizing for one of our peers ripping them off by telling them a HUM is included in the package.

Does anyone in Verizon think to look at Amazon btw? Do they realize that we are far overpriced to have our accessory targets that high?

The only think that kept me from being embarrassed for working in a mall is the money I was making, now I would be embarrassed if my family heard how upper management talked to us.

When i was in wireless retail it was very much a lot of politics . I've seen DMs promoted and demoted.

But I agree it's all micro management now and I don't miss that. I'm an X retail employee and I don't miss the days of going to a manager during each customer and getting yelled at about what I didn't offer etc. Even tho I was not sales I was subject to the same toucher.

Sounds like VzW is the same and still cutting heads I see.

If only wireless reps were smart and would join the union things would be different .

Let's see 40k went on strike spring 2016 , 40 and growing (as they are massively hiring) still have jobs, meanwhile wireless 2 major job cuts in the past 10 months and more to come

Look there is a reason the slogan is "Those who can't do Manage" My manager couldn't tell you the business end of screwdriver but he is related to a VP so you tell me where this company is headed? There should be a rule about nepotism but there isn't so oh well...

That is the type of culture that thrive in Telcos and most could not find a comparable job, that is why they live for the company , or they are out the door

That's a big part of the reason I left the company after many many years and found a job elsewhere.

The managers at basking ridge are just as lousy as the ones in the store.

What about the managers that sit in the back office on Facebook, playing games, or having drama going on with the baby daddy. What kills me some of these managers get bad customer reviews and the area supervisor knows about this but does nothing (but really how can he, you only see him maybe once every 3 months).

Maybe this is just a issue in the Carolinas, and not the entire market.

Oh god i always thought it was hilarious that 90% of managers when they were sales reps i outsold them 3-1 even 4-1 and yet here they were trying to tell me how to sell, yeah ok cause that worked out so well for you right?

Then again this is why they were managers and not leaders. Big difference between the two and Verizon really doesn't know how to determine which is which.
