CWA West TA voted down 53% to 47%

Everyone who belongs to other districts that voted yes should be ashamed to have taken the crumbs your locals agreed to and letting T get embolden pushing the same crap agreement from east to west with no resistance.

CWA Statement on AT&T West Contract Vote

Today, members of the Communications Workers of America in District 9 (representing workers in California and Nevada) from all locals participated in counting the votes on the tentative agreement reached with AT&T West covering 17,000 workers.

The result: CWA members did not ratify the tentative agreement by a margin of 53% to 47%.

CWA has notified the Company of the results and is working on next steps.

@2qxf: for the field, layoffs will be invetable. Not even the union can stop those. Check out the legislation passed in Illinois .. T now has a green light to end landline services. Legally. Pending FCC approval which won't be too hard under Trump. T reportedly saying they won't but we know they will.

The CWA Southwest contract makes it much easier to layoff. Very regressive in the area of JOG (Job Offer Guarantee). It has been watered down. This was the most important thing to maintain contractually as far as job security. It has made it MUCH easier for the company to get rid of us. Anyone in wire line that voted for this contract didn't pay enough attention. Shame on CWA. What good are wage increases and other shiny objects in the new contract if you don't have a job? I am certain the company is very please with this contract.

Would rather stand up for a good TA, not lay down and get 💩 on like the east and Midwest! Ca makes the most income for the T and always had a better contract than the other states!

Good job guys. The next TA won't be as nice and word on the street is that the company is now planning on deeper cuts. Check out what Illinois government just did -- AT&T can axe landlines (which FCC approval, of course -- lol easy with this current admin). Oh well. Wireless is the future anyways.
