50% cut in November for all COR stores. REPS with most tenure will be let go first. Each store will have one manager and no ASM. SSR totally fazed out by November with remaining reps taking turns. Commissions will be gone with everybody making 12.00 an hour but everyone will be part time working only 20 hours a week and store hours will be lengthened to 8am to 11pm.

I'm a manager from central California area more know as south valley, I'm about to leave the company but many managers are moving to intergrated expert positions first with also a company car good schedule but if you want to keep a job go apply. To avoid getting surpluses at cor stores. Lots of favoritism going around to get who's supposibly the best of the best to love there. Good luck. Next couple of months the scissors are coming out, lots of documentation side by sides on behaviors for everything. Even closing corporate stores in my area visalia has a authorized retailer in a mall across the street from a flagship store which when it closes it will redirect people to the mall to the authorized retailer but people will not know if its cor or not. Everything you thought about job security has and will go to sh--. Especially with the union good luck they will fail you all because reps do not care about each other and do not help each other. If you all would've stood together maybe you would of gotten a contract hahaha but att has money to ride everyone out. Strength is in the numbers peasants.

This is true, lots of rumors flying but I haven't gotten concrete numbers. I've seen some tangible info that a sizeable layoff will be announced soon. And it should be expected. Business revenues are way off in legacy services, not surprising since we have said that we're walking away from these technologies for the last 3 years and clients went elsewhere. Also note: CEO told NYT several months back that we could function with about 30% of the workforce due to virtualization and other next generation shifts in how we manage the network. Employees have been on notice for about 4 years now: retool or you will be obsolete. Hopefully they heeded the warning, went back to school, and took advantage of company paid training, and logged it in the HR system that tracks it! It's not the time to be lazy about investment in skills that transfer to where the company is going, not just where it's been.

It's ok to be scared. If I were you I would be. Get ready to lose your lousy job and wake up to the truth. Maybe your union steward will care.

Recently some tester's jobs got whacked and they were given the opportunity to put in for Comm Tech jobs but they didn't get these jobs because they couldn't pass the physicals.

Probably a good thing.
