Find some of the old school WIRELINE management and put them back in charge. The current state of the company is like a rudderless ship where the crew is ready to mutiny.

It's not in Verizon's interest to provide fast internet on copper lines that require a Union workforce to repair and maintain and that they then must share w clecs who undercut their price on dry loop dsl.
I'm sure they are doing their best though, it's probably just a coincidence that DSL s---s and copper "don't work no more".
Dsl 10 megs are you crazy,ive been doing dsl for years,here in n.y.c your lucky if you get 1.5 megs on a clear line .the copper has been neglected for years bcause the company doesnt want to put money into the copper,customers say ive been paying for 10 meg service,and all you can say is sorry to them ,the best your going get is 1 go 1.5 megs .and then they call back and you get a repeater,and the upper manegement wonder why you have so many repeaters,,funnyand they want to hold you accountable cus you cannot fix it.lol they dont want you to give it back to splicing ,and they dont want to replace bad sections of cable,so yoh have a failing plant and you blame the technicians,isnt that funny,so they say find a good pair chk all the terminal,so now you wire out down a whole block just for a semi good pair ,then tbey gig you for taking all day on a job cus ghey will not send you help to wire out 5 terms or more.so i say what do you want to do,,its a funny thing,they dont want to fix the cable and they dont wantto fix the broken rotyed poles and when someone gets hurt they blame the techs,funny place,you just have to laugh sometimes,went it was new york telephone they took care of the customers now they just pass the buck,1 more yr and im outta here

Maybe that's why their stock has doubled and split while Verizon is stuck in the 40's.

@1lss your negativity would have been appropriate in 2002. The copper hasn't changed much but the originating office equipment has been enhanced to make dsl faster than it honestly should have rights to be. From 768k when it was rolled out to some places as much as 10 Meg today.
This company forced most of their older wireline manegers out by rifs or other means,because they had good relations with theirs crews,and hired mostly ex military guy and gals that are just yes men and are micro maneged by the hire ups like the vp,s and upper levels in this company.i have over 30 yeats and will be leaving by the end of the year and have seen alot of changes,i have to say that most manegers now dont know anything about the field,they dont know sh--,and for you wireless people that are getting the shaft by big red soon to be little red cause i really dont think they know what direction they want to go beside in circles,thats what it seems.wireless thought they were untouchable putting down the unions ,now look at yourselves,you feel the pain of the big change now,i feel sorry for the younger and the older employee in both sectors,just ride the wave as long as you can until it crashes or something betyer comes along,good luck to all

You wireline people all want to time travel back to the golden era of telecom in the early 80's. Get it through your heads those days are gone FOREVER.
Just look at Frontier Communications if you have any doubts.
I'm sure everything did run well back in the NYNEX days when everything was regulated and there was no choice/service substitution for customers.
Its also unfortunate that quarterly earnings / dividend payout is the primary driver of VZs decision makings preventing true transformational decisions.

Network transformation is a buzz word for this company. Unfortunately, they are lacking the management skill to transition the old legacy equipment into the next gen stuff. There are some managers that are capable but they are far and few. I am not bashing managers just stating the facts. They actually rehired old wireline managers to help perform these tasks in my area. If upper management came to the craft people that are knowledgable and asked for there input things might go smoother.
Like the government purposely keeping the sheeple poor by taxing into oblivion, old man blowell isn't incompetent, he's viciously doing his part to END verizon. It's all on purpose. It isn't easy working for a company that is purposefully driving customers away, while pretending to care about that said customer. You get caught in the middle, lose morale, and quit, as have tens of thousands of wireline employees since scrooge blowell McDuck took over. Ivan Seidenberg was the last CEO that actually cared. Those days are over and never coming back.
So true..... I was hired into a company that was strong, vibrant, well run and it was a pleasure to come to work with great people on both sides. So much so it didn't feel like two sides...just one. But that was a long time ago and the company was called Nynex then.
