AOC will be closing by January 1, 2018. Network Force Load Analysts and Maintenance Admimistrators will be surplused along with their respective Managers in that location. All other positions not effected will be moved to the Data Center.

As long as I have a job, it wouldn't matter where they relocate me - Data Center or AOC...either would be fine. Think of former employees not afforded the option....
According to my intel, the renovation of several of the floors at the Data Ctr. didn't start on time (late last year), and the AOC employee move was delayed while the new owner deals w/ ALDOT (so traffic can proceed across 280 toward the Summit once again). The decision to leave City Center meant there also wasn't room at the Data Center. Since there IS room at the AOC, those employees will temporarily be located at the AOC.
And yes, there are still other departments at the AOC besides Network. AOC is expected to be empty in 2018.
I work at the AOC and the real estate deal was put off a year then indefinitely so I'm not so sure that building has been sold. I also know the team that is working on projects to move people into the AOC. You never can bank on it until it's a done deal.
I am a service rep downtown, and we had a meeting this week, and were told we are moving to the AOC. Not Data Center, because there was no room for anyone else.
I work downtown and none of us have been told the AOC. I'm not sure where you all are getting this from. We've been told Hoover. Some have been placed on a home-based flex worker status.
I heard that they are moving some people from downtown to the AOC as well, and this came from upper management. I dont think they sold the property yet.

@1xpa: I just texted someone who is familiar with the details of the deal and when I asked him if the deal fell through he replied "No." So you're wrong. You should get better sources.
You will see... Rumor is the deal fell through on someone purchasing the property.
@1jls: Please cite an article. You have no sources. AT&T wouldn't move people in to a building that has been sold. No. They're moving them to the Data Center. Whoevers "horses mouth" you heard that from doesn't know what they're talking about.
You are going by an article that was written over a month ago. You're the one who does not have your facts straight. This came straight from the horses mouth today from several employees that they are moving into the AOC from the city center building, so apparently plans have changed.

@1wup: City Center to the Data Center not the AOC. It was sold to Bayer Properties.
If that were true, then why are they moving employees from the main ATT building in downtown Birmingham INTO the Alabama Operations Center??? It was announced recently.
Not real familiar with AOC, but from what I've been told, I believe that's about all the jobs that are there!! I mean what's left? Are they surplusing everybody in that building? Do share. I did hear that the building has been sold.
