Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

'Class of' program is a fad for contemporary CEOs

Note: oracle is not in the top 10 of class of programs. The recruiter community has declared that they cannot find good candidates for oracle class of because the program is such a grinder on enthusiasm and results so far are dead end jobs in call centers of oracle ... the kiddos come out of college excited. They arrive at oracle and get handed a phone and a computer, some "talk tracks" and are turned loose after done power point training slides on whatever pillar they work for. They last about 9 mos to a year before the quit for greener pastures. Sad. But no less true, just ask any one of the college recruiters or hiring managers off the record. They'll tell all. One of these hiring managers (young and a go getter) just left after 2 1/2 years because he saw No end in sight or ability to affect change. Oracle has a cultural problem. It's problems are about a lack of encouragement for innovation and empowerment of employees. It's not google; it's the Roman army.

They chew up these new college hires and spit them out. It's sink or swim without the drinking and it's not nearly as fun. Everyone is replaceable. If you quit or demand a raise, they can easily replace you and program the new hires with some sales scripts to follow. If they follow the plan, they can make lots of money. It looks like a lot of money to a college hire but it's really not. They either don't make it and quit or they realize how good they are and they leave for more money anyway.

They're the ones behind this program. Too stupid to understand that cheap that doesn't produce is much worse than more expensive and productive. Then again, they never have real conversations with customers so they have no clue what the world looks like. Stupid is as stupid does

basically they are not more easily trained b/c they have no life experience. that said some leadership believe that minimal training is needed and that these call center-like environments will get them the sales they need. problem is, oracle are not selling easy to use DaaS or SaaS or PaaS or IaaS or whatever -aaS is next. So the approach is flawed, but no one has pressed these "leaders". They lead in a firedrill manner and are just running and gunning with ill thought out decisions using an old school high-pressure-revolving-door-car-sales type organization. Its Cloud in a used car sales model. See?

It's the thinking that younger workers are a lot cheaper than older workers and that they are more easily trainable. Even if turnover increases by 100%, it's still cheaper because these workers are half the cost of aging workers. As these younger workers gain experience, they will need to leave Oracle and find a better paying job.

I understand why it's attractive to senior managements, but all that Oracle is becoming is the minor league of enterprise sales. The more successful workers will go to Amazon, Google, and Microsoft where they will make their employees a lot of money.

LE's and MH's Signature program - what does that tell you about their mindsets?

To call the oracle class of program sadistically abusive would be the understatement of the century, they treat the kids like S-t and the kind leave within 6-9 months. Then again, doesn't oracle treat all employees like S-t!
