Why are people scrambling to stay ? There are other jobs out there....Every day i talk to Vzw employees who are applying for jobs internally and not hearing any response at all. Not even an email saying you are not being considered. Some have applied for over 90 jobs sonce their rif announcement and these are people with great resumes. Its ridiculous and insulting. I hear its due to the amount of money people make, how much vacation time they have, or maybe for diversity reasons. Whatever the case is holding back employee applications from hiring managers and NOT sending them the list is wrong. Unless someone is not qualified or matching a job description in which case how are half of the fools getting hired in these jobs getting them? Look around you. Look at who are getting these jobs and who else applied. This is all by design. Seems to be about money. Why allow them to apply and leave them with false hope. This is not the same company.

The people in Verizon are old and tired. Old mindset,. No energy. Most tell you they're just here for a paycheck.
Take the money as long as you can. Each day we do a little less. The company screws us over a little more.
No incentive to do more, not for this company.
I'm only out for a bit with one application in I am over qualified for but would be happy to have for the insurance alone. VZW will not let you "retire" to their Blue Cross for $22,000 if you use the COBRA program. Even though that's what they are paying for the severance people. Anyhow now I am looking at CAREERS from the outside and you should see the pictures of all the pretty young people.
Oh and they are not hardly ethnic. More like the kids living in the basement on your healthcare till 26.
Anyhow that alone makes me scared to think about going back. The youthful people in the picture don't look like they could figure out how to split a lunch check yet alone run a fortune 500 company. But I would say the complexion inside the V doesn't look that way either.
It's a dying industry. Offices that used to have 100 people now have less than 10. Wireless services don't need humans, only automation. It isn't just verizon. Unless your career is in food, healthcare, or security, it's just a matter of time for ALL.
