Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

This place is a mess

The changes that Verizon is making just aren't fair and they don't make sense. My " A" Level location lost a SM but we are pretty much the only location at this level to have this happen. Nobody has any answers as to why or who decides the cuts. Not having Operations people has only hurt the sales in our location because now we have to do everything. I still don't know how the floating manager position is around because regardless of the cuts the position is worthless and brings no benefit to any store. Keep hearing about more cuts and more cuts and nothing happens but our reputation is impacted and customers come in thinking we owe them free phones to stay with this sh--ty place. Good job Verizon

verizon doesnt want out of retail, they have to close the stores. I feel like most people at verizon are oblivious to the reality of just how far big red has fallen. Lousy results are one thing. But the fact that customers dont believe in the company is another. Verizon is the butt naked emperor but with a really bad body, bad breath and tiny privates...plus declining credit. But all the people in positions to curb this are delusional and honestly have no useful or productive purpose anymore. Until the senior management layer and above is pruned nothing will change.

You union brats are like a broken record. 95% of you are high school grads or ged.

Wal-Mart wouldn't even hire you with your attitudes. Maybe ten percent of you could do a real management job and I don't mean and I&m foreman either. You don't have the brains or dedication to handle a bunch of entitled twinks on a daily basis.

I would come back from retirement just to harass the ever loving Sht out of a good for nothing like you . I would drive you right onto benefits. Sign me up !

@wht...first learn your letters, it's XRX that you're responding to and not XXX. However I see where you have your mind or what you're apparently doing at the moment. Second, who said I was union? Reading comprehension goes a long way. Sounds like you got the ax after your dedicated years. It is apparent that you also have issue with the union, where I do not. And for the record, I am management. Go back and read and learn versus being blinded by your hate for the union.

Verizon doesn't want it's stores to succeed so it has a business case to get rid of them. What is happening is part of their strategic business transformation plan.

Verizon wants out of the retail business. Period.

@WHT, you survived managing because there were people to manage, people that were doing hard work so that you could be provided a job watching that income-producing work get done. It's amazing, the constant disdain for the ones actually putting boots on the ground and doing what needs to be done to make this a profitable enterprise for all the stakeholders.

@WHT, without those men and women, toiling in adverse conditions, at all hours, and in all sorts of weather, keeping the services up, there would be nothing for you to watch over, no money for you to earn. Lose the hate. You would bite your nose off to spite your face. Not smart.

People may have different opinions on unions, but all wht does is insult people and boast about his dubious accomplishments.

I don't know why @wht is so angry and has his panties all in an uproar, could it be he has finally figured out that the people who report to him receive better compensation?

This morning we were told that if we didn't physically demo the promo tablets and HUM we would receive "not achieved" coachings. I had 8 adds by the end of my shift and the rest of the SS's were looking at me like I was the office kiss a--. Like i

I'd cheated them out of something, mind you I was only at 9 for the month to begin with so I really needes those. Everything has become so cut throat that you could cut the tension with a knife inside the store. The customers can feel it because they always hesitate when they walk in and take forever to get more than three feet from the windows. It's the most depressing thing I've ever experienced.

Don't try and overthink it. Managers and DM's/Directors rank their staff in closed door meetings. Some of the criteria is performance based but much of it is just a popularity contest.

Sounds like wireless is joining what wireline has been dealing with for years. His boss ranked him and based on that rank, the next level then decides who get cut next. Wireline people have been singing the same song but wireless just laughed and refused to believe. I believe the union was onto something. Too late now.

It's a disaster. Can't focus on sales because we are now operations specialists. Sr Ops Analysts are either awful or overwhelmed with supporting 6 stores. You increase my at risk which does nothing for me because I won't hit goal to begin with!

TMP and ARD aren't going to keep your stores open - boxes out the door will. Don't get blinded.
