I Will be leaving this S.S. Verizon-Titanic in the next few weeks. Any advantage to putting my 2 weeks in VS just quitting and not coming back? Been here 10 plus years but can't stand one more day of this place. I heard that when your applying for a job and your new potential employer calls to verify your employment, the only thing VZW is allowed to disclose per thier policy is the start and ending date of your employment. Typically I would give my 2 weeks but for reasons I can't discuss here, I've been burned bad by incompetent leaders (as we all have to some degree, look at the stock price) and have lost all respect for these clueless leaders. Any help is appreciated. Best of luck to everyone looking for new opportunities. I already feel better knowing I'm almost out of here!

Two bad quarters and they are and have been looking to get rid of as many tenured reps as possible. The core dept is putting everybody on pips. Write ups and finals. The CET team is looking hard to ding every audit possible. Calls are nit picked and people wrote up. Stacked ranking to insure you fail! Something is coming! They have made it impossible to keep your job.
I too used to love working at Verizon but not anymore. We are micromanaged to the highest degree in hopes of hitting our ever increasing quotas just to please Wall St. and the shareholders. This has caused a loss of long term strategic vision, and increased focus on quarterly numbers. This is a shortsighted approach that leaves customers and employees feeling as an afterthought.
Dude, just leave. Geez, you people who think we really care that you just hate this place so much. Well, some of us have a good career at Verizon that we will enjoy as long as it lasts. No job is guaranteed. Take your toxic BS elsewhere already.
If you think it is toxic now? Wait until you leave and are able to see this colossal train wreck of a company from the outside.
As was written earlier, Verizon can only verify employment dates and positions held at the company.
They're not forbidden from divulging whether a person was termed or not, nor are they forbidden to discuss rehire-ability with a potential employer.
That said, no company divulges the latter for fear of lawsuit. I'm sure many working at Verizon have been termed from previous employers. As long as for whatever reason you were termed at an employer wasn't illegal, you should be fine.
I'm much older than all of you. I can tell because we hoped to retire at verizon and you all are just hoping to get vested. Your words pierce my heart. You young people have been done a great disservice and its a shame.
I used to love working at Verizon. Now it's a place where the senior leadership shuffle their friends around. It's almost as if experience doesn't matter. The only part of the company that seems to care that someone knows what they're doing is network. The rest of it is a joke.
Does Verizon tell your prospective employer if you are eligible for rehire?
Will be vested in August. Absolutely loved the job when I first started, thk ughg I'd advance and retire with the company. No. So much has changed in such a short time, it is now an unbelievably stressful and frustrating place to work. Its not worth the benefits and paid time off. You need both as a result of working as a solutions specialist. Writings on the wall and will be making changes in the future and never looking back.
I'm really trying to stay until Im vested which will be on Oct of this year. After that Im leaving this hell hole
Yes the only thing they can do is confirm your employment, they can't give any other details.
I'm looking too. I always thought Id be able to make a good career for myself in this company. I've come to terms with the fact that this company has become a cage for me and its time to move on. Life's too short for this.
