Again, yesterday, the close price, according to one chart, appears to be, if I'm interpreting it correctly, to be $44.49 at 4pm EST but then, within a mere 10 minutes of after hours trading, it then shoots up over a dollar to $45.54 for a number of minutes.

Why do such things occur moments after the close of the bell?

What is going on?

Is this the "new normal" in which, minutes after the bell, the stock regularly shoots up an incredible amount, as it appears to have done twice very recently?

As an unsophisticated market watcher, I'm looking forward to any thoeries to explain what's afoot.

A stock chart purportedly showing after hours activity today, saw a big jump minutes after the close, indicating a jump in a share price of $2.34 for about a minute, reaching $48.8956, then almost immediately returning to $46.55. Anyone know what triggers something like that, if the chart's correct?

Nowadays large corps don't care about debt and credit rating. They know government will bail them to save jobs like it did with banks and auto makers
