Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Why the West doesn't have a contract ..

AT&T wants to drop landline service and where better to test this than in the largest region in the United States? First AT&T got its wish to purchase Time Warner, then they get their wish to end net neutrality, now they're aggressively pursuing new legislation that will allow them to sunset POTS and related legacy services. Your union should have done a strike during the rainy season now you've just given the company more time to leave you without a contract and look for a buyer for the network .. why do you think they've been aggressively expanding fiber? The future of AT&T is DirecTV and 5G.

@1vos: Exactly. While T's network may be lacking in a lot of areas there's a lot of other considerations Frontier will look at when purchasing the former PacBell region. It's not a question of if but when and I believe we are quickly approaching that happening.

"Sell what? what company in their right mind would buy a bunch of junk? LOL"

Frontier Communications. Frontier bought up Verizon's landlines in Southern California; It's a good bet they will go after AT&T's landlines as well.

@hol : I believe what OP is referring to is federal legislation or FCC action. Just because a state bill fails in committee does not mean sh--.

The legislation would have to be approved in California and its already failed. I don't think you know what you're talking about.
