Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Life After VZ not the same Place Anymore

Well I like many others had their last day last week with closures of Wireless Call Centers in the Northeast. Wireless down to17 centers and counting as rumors flying of moving down to 12 very soon. Funny they make exceptions for some to stay on and work in satellite locations and kick others to curb. After seeing this happen over and over in all groups for the past 5-7 years i was at peace to get my package and leave this time. To those still there or that were forced out recently, just make sure you are keeping resume up to date, using all job boards(indeed, monster etc..) and networking with as many people that you can via social media. I know some people were saying i will wait few months to look, some advice is to look now will take that long to find something. I was lucky enough to land something so enjoying some time off and will start new position soon. Funny used to care so much about this place but no regrets after watching them treat us like this over and over. There is life outside of this place. Good luck to all.

@uax... There is probably only one competitor worth looking at, and that's tmo. At&t is just like us, sprint might be better to it's employees but the company is a disaster. That leaves magenta

I still don't understand how this can be allowed to happen. How does no one from HR raise a flag on this? So many great employees are forced to relocate or leave and a small handful just seem to hang on and on in totally dead locations, or working from home......I'll never understand it.

While I wasn't not let go, or even in danger of being let go, I chose to leave for another employer and could not be happier. I always knew most of my leadership team was petty, childish, vindictive, and only out for themselves, but now that I've been out of that toxic wasteland for almost 3 months now, it's even more clear to me now. The people to whom I was reporting had agendas which had nothing to do with supporting their employees. It was all about their pet projects succeeding so they'd get noticed and get promoted.

Now, I'm paid better, more respected, and getting the positive attention and support from leadership I should have been getting all along. Good riddance.

Yes I agree , there is a beautiful life outside of VZW. I now make more and am relaxed . No micro management no being questioned about everything I do ..

To quote The great DR MLK... :

"Free at last , free at last!! "

Wish everyone much success outside of VZW.
