They are pretty bare bones with all the layoffs and Eisps that have been offered. I do not see anywhere they can cut any further.

Wrong. VLSS and BT are not the same and have never been part of the same organization. They report into MR and BT reports into JS.
VLSS and BT are the same organization now and have been for several months. There is no more "VLSS".
VLSS has like 60 people...won't make any difference. BT is a different org and has hundreds of people...maybe 300+?
Sorry but riffing those areas is nowhere near enough to help with our numbers...cuts will be deep and and defect many areas- would be surprised if wireless gets decimated
I do about 2 hours of work in Finance each day. Spend the rest of the day at the gym, eating a long lunch, going to the Java bar, and chat with other coworkers. Thank you Fran !!!
I was laid off in 2015 and I can tell you that there are plenty of positions they could eliminate. Lots of people sitting around doing nothing all day or not coming in to the office at all. Upper Management keeps who they want regardless of their worth to the company.
VLSS/BT are the ones facing the biggest layoffs. There are too many people there with nothing to do but waste time restating what has already been said and done.
@icf If you telecommute 5 days a week and watch TV, your days are numbered because HR has a few applications on every computer that they can activate as well as your manager to see what you are doing on your computer. Don't think that you're safe because you're home. Sounds like they need to get rid of you. I telecommute and find no breathing room with the volume of work I have. I telecommute to get more work done not sit around and watch TV.
There are many in the Facility Tech title that are far from busy....trying to keep out of trouble. There is no need to have so many bodies around for the dying copper plant and they should really know this by now. Give them an incentive to retire.
VLSS doesn't do jack $hit...
I am telecommute 5 days a week. I have been watching TV all day long. Do you think if VZ can downsize any more? you bet - at least another 30% IMHO
are you joking? before I left I must have done about 1 hour of actual work a day, and most of those around me as well. like 4 layers of useless management to lob off before you even get to a muscle.
VLSS and BT are the ones recommending a lot of the layoffs so it makes sense as to why they are so unpopular. The bean counters and efficiency people are always the least popular.
Not in wireline at the tech level. There are so few left as it is and only about 40% of them are good techs. The company needs fresh blood because vendors aren't going to get it done.
vz has something up their sleeve,we will find out very soon
They can outsource more. Close out the call centers. Before I left Rochester, I heard the local company that does an outsourced call center in Rochester was going to have a ton of new hire classes at the same time closing the corporate call center in Rochester.
Sure. They can sell wireline. Kaboom: 39,000 plus employees off the books.
OP - Are you joking? There are so many useless people running around this company with worthless projects. Making busy work out of nothing. At over 160,000 nationally, there is plenty of fat to trim. Just start by wiping out VLSS and BT and go from there.
They could also eliminate half of the leadership positions and not skip a beat.
Sure they can further downsize. They can still offer an EISP to get numbers they want. I think they are hiring Summer temp jobs for a reason. This will allow Verizon to rid themselves of senior Union associates and hire cheaper replacements that start at much lower hourly rates and don't get a pension.
