Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The End of an Era (AT&T)

It's over ! Your last hope to salvage DirecTV is now a flop. It is now just a matter of time. You learned a lesson when you bought a bad company such as DirecTV and it brought you down with it like a sinking ship.

Direct tv is old tech....future is streaming! Even the T says the dish life will be short lived. They just bought them for the cust base and programming muscle in numbers of cust base

So, a desperate company with a history of rotten customer service and quarterly mass layoffs buys a company that led their business in both satisfaction and service, and that provided secure jobs, but somehow the latter is what is dragging the former down?

Sounds to me like just another bitter T-boy trying to find anyone else to blame.

Ask any remaining legacy DTV person and they'll tell you that their regular legacy T coworkers are fine, but all of the corporate T bullspit and layoffs has been just rotten.

Disruption? Att wants to do what others are already doing better. Outside of the NFL ticket they aren't gaining anything groundbreaking other than an old library and unless T gets in on the business of creating hit original content like Netflix they aren't disrupting anything but their stock.

hmm...not sure of the full context behind this post but revenue and numbers show ATT/DTV merger has been very successful. DTV Now is an early preview of what TV services will look like in the future. No Installation, choice of hardware, no contract, etc..If Time Warner deal is approved ATT will own a platform and content distribution model that no other company in the world is in position to do right now. The only sinking ship is an employee base that may not have the software skills to handle this rapid disruption happening in the industry.

AT&T buying direct tv is like trying to put lipstick on a pig...in the end you still got a pig

DIRECTV wasn't bought because of its service, it was bought for its content and NFL deal.

It's same same reason AT&T is trying to grab time warner.

They are trying to survive and battle against content providers like Netflix.
