Better with a union than not....that's why I left cable tv side....12hr 25cent raise a year!
That's why you see no older cable TV workers....they move on for someplace else to retire with better pay & benefits. Feel free to apply there and see how you like it?
Prem tech. I've read the agreement. It's states if you can not do the port swap in WFE and have to call GNAC a helper ticket has to be created for a CORE tech. I don't think you understand that in almost every area it is not like this. That work and most other work is now the prem techs and the Higher paying jobs in CORE are being phased out. The objective is to keep work in the CORE groups so maybe one day you can be promoted to that side of the company. That would be a situation better for everyone.
Deunionize, how would that be better? Give 100% control to the company?

"The Union Won the strike" lmao.. Are you serious? You have the president of 9509, 9510 and 9511 saying this was not the biggest win. It proves that the Company has the upper hand and the CWA is like their pet. We went in strike because of Port Swaps and with this new settlement guess what? We still have to do Port Swaps! And to make it worse, we lost the ability to call GNAC. So at the end we lost 2 days of pay and we didn't get nothing in return. This just proves that the company know that the CWA has no balls. What we need is to de-unionized! We are sheeps!

The grievance strike was just setteled. The union won the strike, shows you what can be accomplished if you stick together. Great for them! In the state were I work we have given this work away to PT's, we are now surplusing techs with 17yrs service. It is a very sad situation.
Too bad there is not a union for IT workers that could directly support strikers, maybe even strike with them?
I know that in IT they will force people to cross the picket line and work as scabs. They outright say that we will be fired if we do not, and word is people have been fired in the past. Of course there will be no productive work accomplished but still, scabs are the lowest form of life.
