What does HPE usually do with small acquired sites? Any info would be appreciated!

That's exactly what happened in our group. Nov 1 arrived but budget didn't. We were told they were working on but had a few issues to iron out. Jan 27th rolled around and 2/3 of the group was WFR'd and the rest moved to new groups (many of whom have since been WFR'd).
What happens is they tell you your safe.. then they WFR you.
Watch for management hints about not making any large purchases.. etc. Those are dead nut giveaways that your headed for unemployment.
As far as I can tell (am actually in the HPE Apollo org), you have nothing to worry about. The Wisconsin facility supports staging and qualifying larger scale HPC clusters than what we can do in Houston. The Wisconsin site was considered a major asset when the acquisition was announced to employees.
