Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Future of Oracle = NetSuite

Well, it was obvious that LE was making a huge bet, just not clear what the bet was. No longer, the bet is that the future of oracle is NetSuite, everything else - Fusion cloud apps, on-prem apps, hardware - is toast. If everybody in those groups is not laid off 6/1, they will be laid off shortly thereafter.

Correct, OMCS is basically outsourcing, Fusion Cloud apps run in OPC.

OMCS - dead

FA = spaghetti code, oracle cannot run itself, dying

Future: bye bye FA and Fortune 100 clients, and TK & co.

Hello NetSuite, middle market, and NS international expansion - see MH remarks.

Therefore: if not NS get out before canned

Re OCS, oracle has told consulting partners like Accenture that oracle is looking to them not OCS to support cloud going forward, there is no future for OCS, surprising there have not been more layoffs, could be slated for 6/1

on a side note, OCS group ( consulting)-- will be dead in the water...already so few projects for staff-- and bench is large.. from once north America-3000 people consulting group --there is less than 700 people left... with a great number of Directors/VP/ still in the group...why?..we know why...

FA will lose all SMB revenue to NetSuite. It will bleed even more money qtr after qtr.

Solid HW roadmap, really? What are you smoking? There is no future in oracle hardware. The only think LE is solidly behind his this mad dash to $10bn in annual cloud revenues, before Sfdc, however that happens. Nothing else matters. And by the way, Sfdc will get there first!

Most of the remaining Sun guys in Apac just surf the web or read the paper. Am surprised they're still there even after the netsuite acquisition. CW should take notice of that instead before laying off engineers that do actual work.

I'm very bearish but Oracle can't get rid of what they can sell to try and sell what they can't get customers to buy. They need the revenue from legacy products to fund acquisitions and new R&D so Oracle can re-invent themselves.

Whiplash is not going to get Oracle anywhere. The strategy looks messy but hopefully it has some kind of goal in mind or else Oracle might as well be pissing in the wind.

Not sure where your information about HW is from. Latest I heard is that attrition was more than expected because of the last layoff and we will soon start hiring again. There is a solid HW road map and LE is fully behind it.

You mean layoffs in OMCS? Do you actually know what that group does?

Maybe look on oracle.com - you will find it ha every little to do with FA, which primarily runs in OPC.

Dude, FA is dead, just look at the latest layoffs. Who said oracle needs to compete at the high end? All LE cares about is revenue, not which market it comes from! Get a grip

I think you lack some understanding of the target markets of Fusion vs Netsuite, based on their features and capabilities.

A real problem for the Fusion Apps BU is that Netsuite cannibalizes sales at the lower end of the market. Netsuite is not a replacement at the higher end.
