Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

2nd & 3rd quarter massive layoffs

1. COR stores are being eliminated and transitioned to authorized retail. Look around - your stores are empty - you are expensive. This isn't just at&t - look @ retail in general. When was the last time you bought something in a store besides walmart/target?

2. BAE's - moving to authorized retail - cheaper to do

3. Customer service call centers - Moving most overseas. While a threat to our country by outsourcing - it's cheaper and that is the companies bottom line - how can we do it cheaper

4. SEL's etc.. those positions are duplicitous.. They are going away - DOS's assistants are a luxury that isn't needed. ARSM's - be prepared for 4th quarter - double the locations (AR & company owned) and half the ARSMS' needed - close to a 50% cut in DOS w the ARSM cut

5. If offered severance - take it - this will be cut again Up to a 50% payout isn't sustainable considering the amount of employee cuts T will be having throughout the next 15 months.

This is ridiculous. Entertainment (DTV) is critical for the company's success and AR is downright awful at selling it. Some ATTR to AR transition shave happened for years in less profitable locations but to eliminate virtually a whole channel puts the fate of the company into the hands of people who aren't employed by it. Open your eyes and accept the fact that AT&T is evolving into something different than selling cell phones. Even Verizon is looking to get bought out by a content company.

They won't cut severance that harshly but could see them trimming it or having you sign away your rights and then not get it later. They need something for you to sign and leave with something and not sue them. They have been vulnerable to age discrimination lawsuits but paid off many of those people by signing off their rights through ok severance payments, slightly better than what is out there for new employee now. if you have an airtight case, reviewed with a lawyer previous to the layoff and have saved 1 year worth of income, forgo the severance and battle them for 2 years until you get 100k-250k.

Ah the old "severance is getting cut" rumor again. How many times are you going to be wrong before you quit saying it?

COR stores are going to be replaced with AR locations, if you haven't been on both sides then you have no clue. Starts with level 1, then 2 eventually 3. I'm sure some profitable locations and Flagships will stay but ATT retail is going away, have you checked how many AR locations surround you? How they look? Cheaper to have them than pay us. Sad but very true. Definitely not in 3 months, maybe a location here or there, but the plans are there for the next few years. Sad to have invested so much and then see dealer personnel take our stores. It's already happening in some parts of the country. Level 1s- watch for when your lease is up. Hate to say it cuz so many of us will be affected but OP is right on this ( and I'm no trouble maker either, just another employee who hoped for a long career at one point).

Severance is based on your tenure. It can found in CSP/HRONESTOP. Be sure you read it.
