Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoff call tomorrow for engineering groups in West ???

I was told we have a call tomorrow for "Resource Planning" which is usually to say there may be a surplus in Engineering. Has anyone heard about this call? This is for the West in California I think. Not to alarm anyone but just curious if anyone else has heard of a call tomorrow at 8am and 9am? It happened about a year ago for another group that worked with engineering but was not part of engineering. The last time the people at 9 am were safe and the ones on the 8 am call was to inform "some' that they may be effected.

Yup, apparently there was a call everywhere yesterday for OSP Planning & Engineering Design, Rao and any other managers having to do with outside plant. Telling them all they were at risk, or getting a show of interest as to who would leave with the right amount of money. Another call in 60 days....you know what that means.....Bye Bye! Way too much redundancy anyway!

Ahhh Yes the ole "Resource Planning" call in the morning with the C&E VP Jeff Luong. I'm sure it won't be good. Today's earnings call paints a clear picture of the temperature of the company. Revenue down 3% in Q1 2017 and is expected to continue declining as subscribers jump ship for cheaper service. Wireless Market is over saturated. Company has to find new revenue streams somehow. I've always said AT&T needs to do something big and offer a product or service nobody else has (remember Iphone exclusivity). Otherwise you are just another high priced carrier that "hopes" customers will buy into the "bundle savings" marketing craze!! Millennials are cost conscious and tech savvy, times have shifted and change is happening at a pace AT&T has always had trouble keeping up with.

I'm mentally prepared for whatever happens...this company don't make me and can't break me! I've had a good run if it comes to end so be it. Just make the check fat on the way out the door!!
