Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

PIP

Leadership wants stores to fail so they can pip people out on write ups without paying severance.

With the RSS spot gone, everyone left is on commission and is subject to being managed out on performance.

The era of the company owned retail store is coming to an end. They are quietly closing them all over the country.

No the pip process is triggered by not making 80% to goal. The other pip is based on not demonstrating behaviors consistently.

You guys complaining about pips have no clue what your talking about.

Severance is 2 weeks per year right? Let's say youve been with the company 5 yrs. That's 10 weeks of pay. (2.5 months)

Pip is

Step 1: review

Step 2: documented counseling

Step 3: written

Step 4: final written

Step 5: review for termination.

If somehow you couldn't hit 80% of the quota to even avoid this process, and you missed targets so bad in consecutive months, it would be a minimium of 4-5 months to "pip you out". That's 16-20 weeks of pay.

Now.....Which would be cheaper....Pip process or severance.

If you can do math the answer is clear. So stop with the pip is why there's no severance because it makes zero mathematical sense.

100k as a rep was possible 5+ years ago. These days not likely, maybe you're a one in a million but those days have been over for a while. I was a top rep in the district hell even he region and made winners circle multiple times and just saw my paychecks spiraling downward regardless of what I sold or how much I sold. If you're still somehow pulling a great paycheck good for you enjoy it because it's a rarety in the company.

repinTx is drinking that koolaid down! Sorry to burst your bubble but it is matter of fact that VZ has already started the first phases of dismantling retail dum-dum..Lowell is soon to announce his retirement and all the push for digital biz models and self service is happening for a reason, you will realize once they inform you, you will no longer be commission based..in the meantime since you obv have no valid realiable sources, plz hush

@kissmyass

I sold 1 hum last month. Maybe 5 tablets. I sell smartphones, where the money is. I sell accessories too. I work about 50 hours each week so that helps with the pay. I run 90% NPS. I'm just smart enough to do it thier way. 115k is not a lie in any way or shape. Out of 17,500 reps last month I was in the top 30 on scorecard. I work my tail off. Lol.

@repintx

I bet you as a rep are shadier then sh--. You probably are slamming tabs and hums left and right. You probably have 75 percent pull thru on the zero usage report too. Funny thing is this company turns their back to jack wagons and shady asses like you. 115k you are a lying scum

Ha ha. You all make me laugh. I'm a rep and I made 100k last year. Trending 115 this year. The company is just trimming the fat. The people that know what they're doing will always have a job and always make a ton. Get to work instead of crying so much.

Yeah those who setup quota do it with intentions for the numbers to not be hit and if they are hit it's hard to get any good multipliers for comission increases. Look I get companies want to make more money and sell more each year but let's say I sold 100 total devices this time last year and made 4K that month. The way they have it setup now is if I sell 150 I'm lucky if I make a little more than half what I made last year. At VZW you work harder not smarter.

Guy above is right but he's missing one point:

Verizon realizes revenues are down, as well as adds and in store traffic. They also know that Internet sales are up.

Yet, in store quotas are actually higher than this time last year. So only two possibilities make sense here, either the people who decide the quotas have no idea what's going on... or they know EXACTLY what they are doing.

Both are terrifying.

I've worked for Verizon since 2009. As a rep I made more each year. I started at 55k and my last year as a rep 2016 I made 88k I'm a manager now and my top rep makes 90k. In slightly worried with what the future holds. My store has 7 reps 2 SM and a GM hard to imagine running it on anything less

@dxo that's not actually true. It is setup for some people to make lots of money - the people up top

Sales isn't easy but it doesn't have to be setup to be impossible to make money. Reps are setup to fail with the amount of none sales that are required and with quota continuing to skyrocket its harder and harder to make money. The days of making 70+ have been over for a while even for the good reps it's become harder to make money. I saw my paychecks drop year after year yet I was selling more and more but because of the quotas and workload I couldn't make money.

Label it and phrase it whatever you like but at the end of the day Verizons system for quota is asinine, it makes no sense and benefits nobody. It's only purpose is to ensure people don't make money end of story.

PIPs are a common technique to force out employees so as to not lose the headcount or pay severance. VPs are taught (off the record) how to setup an employee to fail with an impossible PIP

I feel bad for your thought process.

The whole pip thing sounds stupid although there are reps that do the bare minimum. Those are the reps that need to either pick your effort up, or leave. Wanna make a monthly 2k check? McDonald's is up the street.

It's sales.

If it was easy we'd all be out of a job.

Think of it this way, you don't need a degree, no schooling, can earn up to 70k a year. The catch is you're Verizon's B--ch.

You can either do or do not. There is no try.
