Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Left the T

Like many of us I was overqualified when I accepted an RSC position, but it gave me a chance to get my degree and have someone help with the cost. I have seen the writing on the wall in COR and taken the plunge elsewhere. I did RMDP and was offered multiple management positions just to be told after the fact that they had to revert the offer due to cutbacks and restructure . I will make 6 figures at my new company as opposed to 50-60% less at Att. The grass is always greener, but sometimes you need to go check it out. Don't be complacent.

Now that you are a terrific professional all you’ve got to do is identify industries that often pay six figures within 3 years of experience Venture capital, investment banking, management/strategic consulting, high tech, internet. Go apply to the top five companies in each field. Here are some examples: of course thre is a reason why AT&t is NOT in the list, but we will discussed that in another post

Venture Capital: Sequoia, Benchmark, Accel, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and Kleiner Perkins.

Investment Banking: Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Barclays, Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Strategic Consulting: Bain, BCG, McKinsey, Monitor, Arthur D. Little, Booz Allen Hamilton, LEK, Oliver Wyman, A.T. Kearney.

Tech/Software: Apple, Oracle, Salesforce.com, Microsoft, HP.

Internet: Google, Facebook, eBay, Paypal, AirBnB, Dropbox, Quora, Uber.

IT Consulting/Accounting: KPMG, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers (takes longer to break $100,000, but a high certainty before 30 if you start out of undergrad)

poor souls, You probably have your reasons for staying in that job that's making you miserable: You need a steady paycheck and health insurance, or you'd rather tough it out in a bad situation you're familiar with than risk something new. I get it. But here's my advice for you: QUIT.

Forget what you've heard about winners never quitting, because that's just not true. Smart people quit the wrong things at the right time. If you don't write it, no one's going to read it. If you don't change it, it will always be the same. If you don't bring your dream to life, your dream dies with you. If you ever hope to find your right thing, you have to quit that wrong thing, are you scared to deal with reality? I do not wish to anyone the demage that T had done to this company
