Retiree here.....Any explanation or the logic behind this decision would be appreciated. Does this have future ramifications for the possible sale or breakup of the wireline side of the house? Having spent years in the FSC troubleshooting and/or correcting email issues I would think a significant drop in call volume would be in order. Less calls requires less people and we all know how that plays out. Your thoughts, factual information, or opinion requested. I'm sorry to see that feature removed as I found it straight forward and easy to use. I have no intentions of canceling FIOS but I wonder how this will impact retention of existing customers and signing up new customers. Only time will tell if this was a sound decision or another huge blunder made by senior management. Those in the FSC.....what are the customers saying?

stupid people.. EVERYTHING is for sale. EVERYTHING has a price. the email actually cost us very little to operate.. many customers believe the lie that for some reason our network and therefore our email was more secure. they didn't want to migrate. as usual the sh!t for brains retards at verizon give our sales opportunities away. go fondle your mother

Written by someone who obviously doesn't know how to run a business. As stated by someone else, with AOL on board there is no need to spend twice for an email platform. AOL has the better platform and so that is what we'll go with and get rid of verizon.net.
Maybe it is people like this genius who thinks we need to maintain two email platforms who need to be riffed so their mentality doesn't continue to pollute this place.
The are not eliminating it based on what I've read. Those with the email address of verizon.net will be able to keep it. However it is called streamlining and eliminating duplication of platforms. We now own AOL and have those servers. So the content is being merged to be maintained on one platform. It reduces server maintenance cost for two systems that do the same thing. With so many options out there for email such as gmail, it is ridiculous to maintain these servers/platforms just because folks cannot let go. It makes logical sense to me and yes I have a verizon.net email address which I do not use so much, I tend to gravitate to gmail since I have an android phone and it is integrated with many other google applications that I use.
With gmail and yahoo being out .. There really is no benefit of having a "Verizon.net" email address any more. No need to limit yourself to having an email address linked to a specific provider when you can have a gmail or yahoo email address and retain it even when switching providers. Just seems old school.
verizon is pathetic. this is making alot of problems for many long time customers. they keep calling asking why they cant run their small business email anymore. bcuz verizon is dumb, thats why
