Thread regarding Follett layoffs

More Layoffs Unlikely

It's tough to find more positions to get rid of since things are already so bare bones. Instead look for new and creative ways to reduce total compensation for current employees. But come on now, honestly how could anyone complain about salaries with all of the fantastic benefits? Oh those were pretty dramatically cut too you say? OK, well, umm, oh my. How about them Cubs? Cubbies were overdue a renaissance and prayers were answered last October, so maybe it can happen with Follett too. Dare to dream! Make it real!

How is this legal? Is there no protection for worker's rights?

Follett just isn't worth it fighting for any longer. Use them for a paycheck and nothing more. They are the next in a long line of once strong companies that are now total failures due to greed, lack of leadership and direction.

Get your hours this way especially in the summer. Your RM won't be traveling much and you can always claim you were on lunch if they happen to pop in while you are out. Regardless, are you really scared of your RM?

Run your store for the hours they are open.

Set your work phone to forward phone calls to your cell. You already have email access outside with the named accounts.

Leave and go home or do whatever you want to.

Return, punch out and set the alarm.

If you are hourly you should slam them for OT as much as possible since you will eventually be ripped off at some point.

If this change doesn't motivate people to get out then a 26 hour pay check at some point will...

Not pay cuts. Changes to hourly which would mean reduced pay if they don't make their 40 each week - Which is a real possibility for many stores... especially in summer... considering hours open because of campus need/request. I know of some stores that are only open 28 hours per week, and if there's no work to be done, do you think those managers will want to sit and stare at the walls for 12 hours per week to get that 40 hour paycheck?

When did the pay cut rumors start?

If it is true start on floor 9 wing two.

Threaten layoffs then take salary. Everyone will feel as if they pitched in to save jobs. Next October, wham! More layoffs (honestly this is 100% conjecture. I've seen it happen at better places than follett, however).

Come on! It is not all bad! If you spend $40 on crappy Follett gear you get a free key chain! How are they able to offer this in such troubled times?

I think it is time to start trimming the dead weight in the executive suite.
