Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Commissions will be eliminated next

In order to keep cutting costs and remain competive it's only natural commissions are cut in order to give consumers best pricing and ensure investors and stock holders are getting the results they are asking for. Some reps easily make $100k I know which is way to much for what they are doing and without a degree, most of it kind you involved lying to the customer and manipulating them... be honest are you surprised they will eventually cut this ?

I retired from Verizon Wireless 10 months ago as Experience Specialist, (RSS and Operations), the position that was just eliminated), and I know that a a local store in Phoenix market was testing combined commission where all sales reps in the store split split commissions (all sales reps make the same commission)

Who got fired for losing the On Star contract and in its place came up with HUM? Zero creativity here at vagizon.

Quota should have always been a group effort. Would wash out shady practices and encourage team work among reps and create an overall positive experience for the customer. Then again the company rather its reps have insane quotas so they get desperate and start bundling stuff into plans without fully disclosing. Seen enough of that during my time with Verizon. Hell even now I'm hearing the company doesn't want people on higher plans being move to unlimited without having some device like him or jet pack slammed on the customer. If your damn products were that good they would sell themselves without slamming customers.

No you do not have to use deceptive sales tactics to be successful as a rep, but to say it is not happening at a disturbing rare is not true. HR makes it difficult to teminate reps for code of conduct without tons of paperwork.

Yes sales rep lie. They sell tablet, jetpack, hum without disclosing everything. Customers are thinking they are getting a better deal if they get those items. You know it is happening al over.

@MJVSRCW, why were you conditioned to believe the compensation for the labor that produces the wealth should be the first to suffer in belt-tightening? Why do you paint an entire group of people as cheats. Why do you believe the possession of a college degree translates into one performing better as a salesperson?

Managers do push reps to do unethical things and lie , it starts from the top down ... then they set ridiculous quotas or make it impossible to make money lately

Funny, out of the good folks you singled out in your diatribe, the reps are the last ones I would have thought make, "...way to much for what they are doing."

In regards to the comment about having to lie to achieve reasonable compensation is completely false. I agree with your comment about commissions being cut. However, to make good living in sales you don't have to lie, cheat, or steal. Falsifying information about sales people is one of the reasons people are choosing to find other avenues to purchase products. Thus making it harder for sales people to make an honest living.
