I was apart of the lay off back in Oct when they "got rid of" the ops position. Was with the company going on 9 years. In my particular location I felt as though I was targeted due to some grudge my manager was holding against me and she didn't even know the true story of what happened for why she was holding this grudge. I actually have been through a lot before the lay off, my brother passed away, I took on caring for his baby and my sickly mother but does Verizon care??? It is definitely all about politics with this company, it's not about what you know it's who you know. I loved my job, it was my career and planned on being there for the long haul. I busted my butt for my store even when I had a second ops there who had no work ethic and treated me poorly and yet I was treated like dirt from my manager because she was close to the other ops. Verizon is a great company to work for but only because of all the benefits such as health, 401k, pay etc. As far as how they treat their employees, not such a great company to work for unless you're apart of the "cliques".. I still miss it until this day but I know I will be ok and I feel sorry for all who just lost their job in this past lay off.

When someone's got to go, it is inevitable that someone will feel the company is not being fair. The last person our group lost didn't feel it was right but the rest of us would all agree that person was the lowest performer of the group. That person had experience, degrees and everything everyone else had except for work ethic and performance. I don't doubt some good people get riffed. I have seen it. But nearly all of them were able to parlay what they offered into something better.
Same here, I have multiple IT degrees and I even applied to over 60 internal positions (non retail) ... and got 0 interviews .
Meanwhile the companies wasted over 200 million in blow 90 , and marine Walden keeps making bad decisions and nothing ...
Company doesn't care , we were at will no union protection.
Meanwhile 40k landline employees fought corporate greed last spring and 40k kept their jobs and won 1k signing bonus >10 percent wage increases ...
Tell your store mates to wake up and smell the coffee . Fight corporate greed .
Yes the people who made the decisions were higher than this. They looked at numbers on spread sheets not people.
People lost their jobs and they weren't apart of the cliques. Quit your harping and move the f--- on.
