Northwest hit HARD!!! Answers inside!!!

Really rough day here in the Northwest. I have read many of the rumors up until this point and figure its my duty to shed light on whats happening and provide comfort to some of those with unanswered questions.

Phase 1

1) All Northwest RSS positions eliminated. (complete, final payroll date 5/5)

2) 1 store closure in Oregon mall location. (delivered, final payroll 5/5)

3) 16 Solution Managers eliminated. (Complete, final payroll 5/5)

Here is where things begin to interesting and I will address the big rumors...

1) First things first, Solution Specialist are safe. Head counts have been adjusted but no lay off as of now for Solution Specialist. (Bottom 20% being eliminated, a myth)

2) The rumor of C locations converting to AR has legs. This is a variety of locations not based on store level. This is still in ongoing negotiations but light will be shed here soon. I want to re-iterate this is not limited only to C locations, but also will include smaller producing "smart stores" regardless of build date. AR wants new builds included. Key indicators are If you're considerably lower volume than stores in a 20 mile radius, and if you are approved for less than 3 SM.

3) All Northwest floating GMs to be relieved of duties. (Will fall in line with AR conversion)

4) District realignments resulting in loss of 1 Oregon DM and dependent on AR negotiations, 1 DM, maybe 2 eliminated in Washington

5) Field Operations eliminated based on district realignments. The timeline allows for complete training of sap and other operational duties with GM/SMs.

It's been difficult for all of us and it's not over as the hits keep on coming. Don't take a deep breath until Q3 everybody.

This post has been spot on in my district I was an SM.

So has anything happened today or is everyone trying to scare us

If I go into work today to hear if a certain DM gone I might just have to use a sick day to celebrate. Actually.... might as well all use a few sick days.

Also 5 Verizon stores closing impacts what 50-70 people maybe. It's not the same impact as multiple "big box" stores like Sears or JC Penny. Plus on Walstreet layoffs = more profit. Only bad for the people getting laid off, good for the company.

Store closures are very minimal maybe 1 or 2 per Territory. And mostly like Kiosks and mall locations. Not enough to pop up on any national radar. Probably more coming.

It won't be on the news or heavily communicated until final payroll days hit.

This site keeps making everything seem so huge but where are the store closures? Wouldn't this be on the news or some other website? How is Verizon hiding the facts?

No Union posts. I'm not in the Union and more headcount cuts are coming. By training solutions specialists on opening and closing procedures and decreasing the amount of transactions that require Manager approval. And a huge urgency to train all leadership on RSS duties it all points to a continue decrease in headcount and store locations. Multiple communications say before the end of the second quarter there will be more headcount changes and restructuring of current business models. Sorry it's true. If your not in a Tier 1 or A store you're in trouble or if your a crappy specialists or if you are in operations part of the business. Cross your fingers. Just like they told us once they changed everyone left to a RSS there wouldn't be any more reductions. Yeeeaaaa I don't think so. Plus who's saying there won't be anymore cuts. I haven't heard that except after the last 3 or 4 layoffs. Yeah we're all good no one worry.

@MGF78hb-jah - SMB in holding pattern due to all the new hiring in region. Likely to see trimming around SMB manager role, think more around 3 districts per manager but not cement yet.

Any word on SMB?

Sorry to say but wireless is dying. It's the natural evolution of the progression of technology. When I say wireless I mean the cell phone business as we know it. All carriers are moving to sacrificing the cell phone part of the business to invest in wireless streaming and digital content . No one to sell cell phones when the real money is in the digital content. Go get a phone at the gas station or Target or Wal-Mart and pop in a SIM card. All investments and mergers and job reductions don't point to growing the cell business. The wirless cell phone side of the business is viewed as a profit drainer not a gainer. Unfortunately all these DMs and Directors are soon to go. If there's no stores we won't need DMs and Directors it slowly trickles up. So as you deliver the messages of headcount reduction remember sooner or later it will be your turn your just the messenger and doing the dirty work for the millionaires that are just protecting their own wallets. Smile now and enjoy it but your time will come as well.

Totally a union post. All job cuts ended today and it's not funny to continue to scare people.

@xyj Clack. We aren't low performing but managers moved around. Not sure who picks what managers leave.

@MGF78hb-zjp - I think it stands for Authorized Reseller or Retailer.Basically indirect. :-(

What does AR stand for?

Salem, OR is being shut down but I don't believe it's being bought. We weren't offered to work at indirect location

@MGF78hb-joz - Floaters in the Northwest haven't been eliminated as detailed in the original post. The elimination of the floating GM role will fall in line with the first wave of AR conversions. Sit tight. It will be a bumpy ride.

Floaters in WA haven't been impacted. What is the store that shut down?

Man sad if it's true, but I think the rest is hype, like 20% SS laid off and all the other rumors - embellishments by the union. They're getting good for sure!

@nbh You are not serious, right? This thread had 700+ views in less than a hour? Is the union behind all the views, are they spreading fear so 1000s of folks participate here daily? There are threads with 100s of FB shares and tens of thousands of views...

If you were with the company you'd know that the bloodshed is real, people who put in decades of hard work are being let go and that the situation is so opaque and unpredictable that each of us has hard time doing any reasonable life planning given how fluid things are.

Try to process this and leave both anti and pro union chatter for some other thread - it's a non starter here.

@MGF78hb-kcn people lost their jobs and it's sad, but eventhough it sounds sh--ty to say, there's some entertainment value here. Everyone is complaining about how bad the company is that they work for. Yet they continue to work for them. Then, someone say "horray company" and people come down hard on them. Layoffs happen in every big organization. Just appears in this one retail was just a little to immature to understand it, empathize with those effected and keep their mouths shut and work up that old corporate ladder. It's the American Dream. The posts on here are a breeding ground for subtle CWA stupidity and "poking the bear". Eventhough the CWA couldn't have stopped this, they love seeing hate and discontent for an company and prey on it. Sorry for those effected by this, but damnit, read this, it's straight pathetic. Anything from racist to hustlers to greedy accusations. You'd think yall would have been shut down a long time ago! - it's all BS. I've seen it before. Save your data.

@MGF78hb-ans - This is not CWA. I am pro employee and CWA could not protect against these type of cuts anyways. There is no benefit to being Union with whats going on. If you don't work for Verizon then why are you even bothering to look at this post?

This is a CWA post. They want y'all's dues. I don't even work for Verizon and can smell this from a mile away. They were after us at CL for awhile. Lots of stupid uninstantiated chatter about cuts. Dumb, but maybe effective for the easily influenced.

My store had 2 SM's let go. I thought this was done today?
