Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Lets blame the Employees

AT&T,Earnings Estimates Pressured By Unlimited Data And analysts have lowered first-quarter earnings estimates for AT&T , while AT&T CEO blames workers saying U.S. firms have trouble finding workers with right skills

Talented techs can find good-paying jobs assy, butAY&T employees are a special case, old technology is a job killer

The chief executive of AT&T has some advice for jobseekers: Brush up on your technical skills.

Randall Stephenson, who doubles as chairman of the Business Roundtable, says companies across the country have trouble finding suitable applicants for open positions. At AT&T, for example, the company interviews 11 people for every open job contracting and offshoring

“The main issue that businesses face today is a skillset mismatch,” he said Tuesday in a conference call with reporters. “Our company is experiencing this today.”

The only people getting jobs are the people who act like everything is awesome(#lifeatatt) and tweet inane stuff out to TU folks for their "award-winning" training and kiss enough a--. You do not get promoted in this company for having education, experience, and performance. Jobs advertised are only done so to satisfy legal, as they have already hand-picked who will get that job. DTV folks? Screwed if you weren't at management level. L&D? A cog in the great TU machine where only the few are recognized and everyone else needs to be filling out needless spreadsheets and having people less experienced and less educated than you evaluating your work. What a joke. eNPS is a joke because people don't tell the truth out of fear. I did this year. Supposed to be anonymous. Let's just see about that...

Plenty of lnegligent management from all legacy segments in our company, mostly old, negligent, out of touch, no technologically advanced, truth is that - Idiot bosses exist only to stomp the life out of their intellectually superior and more innovative Direct reports, Some workers, fed up by the knuckle-dragging incompetence of the idiot boss , spend a good part of the day trying to make sense of thir charade instead creating, in my 20+ years with this company only 15% of managers were aware of their duties ans responsabilities, the others a bunch a-- kissers

I predict the retraining fiasco will just disappear after they close the TW deal. It is just a PR stunt.

I call BS. Randy started getting the "retool yourself" message out a while ago and I took it to heart. I took the Transformation and Network Series, got certified in both, took AU courses and started my Big Data nanodegree from the AT&T partner Udacity. Think it did me an ounce of good at layoff time? Nope.

This is about a company that treats people like dirt! and technology is not the issue here! Plenty of my co workers are very tech savvy. It about Greed! And only caring about more profits over customers or employees!!!

You can have adds all you want about such a wonderful company you are...but your actions dictate what you tuly are....

This is a article to support reasons to laying off people. People's commission got cut. I know mine did by about $15,000 last year!

Y'know, had they not cut pay to their staff like they did 12 months ago we probably would be in better shape.

What randy-boy either fails to understand or denies, (I suspect the latter), is that no one with talent would ever consider Att as a career choice. You can bring all the talent you want, but if the wheel of (mis)fortune lands on your name, you're out on your butt. Why put yourself in that position?

Love this article! Not sure if anyone realizes almost EVERYTHING designed takes a rocket scientist to figure out. It's a new generation called "Technological change" and there is no stopping it. Everything is going online so elderly folks are forced into it, schools have to implement new curriculums starting at grade school, even transportation is changing. Generations from the 90's and older have to go back to school and get educated. If they want to compete with this current generation and at some point it will happen to them. It's called evolution i actually appreciate Randall making it loud and clear cause it's not to scare you, the sky isn't falling nor is there going to be a great flood. We are entering a world where you can't con your way out of something cause a computer has no emotion and will most likely be someones boss one day. We created this world by buying into it. It's not AT&T's fault nor ibm, lucent, Microsoft, Apple, lezus, it's just life. If you don't want to be part of the new generation well you can always greet them at the doors of walmart and wish you did.

The main issue is a low wages that will not support a family in the USA. Randy is a liar who would offshore every single job if he could.
