What if I told you ... that leaving Verizon is the best thing that will ever happen to you. That there is life after Verizon. That your quality of life will be greatly increased once you've left. To those who may be moving on from Verizon today do not worry and do not have fear. As a former employee myself, I can guarantee you this is the best thing that can happen for you. You will find something else, and your life will be better without the toxicity of Verizon. Congratulations on your new found freedom and zest for life again.

Yes there IS life after Verizon! I was laid off last go around in November of 2016 and it was the BEST thing to happen to me. It may seem devasting now, but my quality of life improved almost immediately. There is certainly life after Verizon. I have been able to focus on what it is I really want to do and follow my passions. Now, I am in a position doing what I LOVE with GREAT work-life balance. I took a slight pay cut, but it is sooooo worth it. To anybody being impacted today, I would say to keep the faith and know that YOU WILL BE OKAY!
Life is better after Verizon Wireless. I still work in the sales environment but everyone's respectful and helpful of each other it's like we're a family here. No pressure, no quotas, no calls no shady practices. We just come in and have fun and sell. Verizon can't seem to figure that part out. There's always light at the end of the tunnel. Take what you learned at Verizon and find s company that will appreciate what you have to offer.
I believe it. I just got paid 120 grand to find another job when it's been something I've been wanting to do for a year. Life is good and this is the first time in 16 years I haven't felt like I had a 300 lb weight on my back.
Best thing that happened to me. I make more too now. So oh well.
Indeed after 13 years (10 fantastic years with VzW) 3 miserable with VZ Corp, life is 1000 times better than that dump. Lowell threw away the "Credo" with the VZ integration!
Life after Verizon is so much more then life with Verizon. Now granted I made very solid friendships while there which is why I've been following this. For some it's not as easy to find another job paying the same based on location etc. for me, I took a small cut but when you think of commissions taxes it's not a cut at all. Also with how commissions have been the last year no cut at all. Anyways the point to this is you are right. You will have your time back. It s---s loosing a job and having a little added stress in finding one. But the feeling of not being glued to your phone is unbelievable. Totally worth it.
Same here, let go after 21 years last November. In the long term, best thing that happened. I'm healthier, family is happier to have me home more often, and not carrying the weight of corporate wireless on my shoulder. Have an awesome job now, making less money (not tons, but some), and couldn't be happier.
I can whole-heartedly agree with Morpheus' assessment. I too was a former galley slave, chained to a bench with others on my team, pulling an oar to power the great VZW ship around in circles, while the rowing master (Hortator) beat the time on the bass drum. I escaped, by my choice, and left the floundering behemoth of the "good" ship VZW. I found employment elsewhere in Telecom, almost right away.
Overnight, my personal life was once again mine. No more working overtime to hopefully prove my company dedication, no more belittlement by tunnel-visioned supervisors, telling us we were worthless for failing to put numbers up that if realistically looked at, would be impossible to meet under the BEST of conditions. The entire process was designed, engineered and doomed to fail from the starting gun. I can sleep now at night, when I leave after 8 hours, work is over. It's fun again, I look forward to coming in and weekends I no longer read email or come in to work and take one for the team.
So when they call you in, and offer you the poison pill, look at it as an antidote. You may not initially make as much elsewhere, but the time given back to your personal and family side of the ledger is something no one I know can buy. Grieve for an appropriate time, and in a few months look back as having exorcised a major demon from your system that was s---ing the life out of you. Cold Turkey kick of the VZW co-dependency works. @DeathofVZ how long have you been with them? There was a time we made sick money. I hope that you're not under the illusion that just because you might be at or above GDP, that you make a lot.
Love money, and actually left for B2B sales with another company. M-F 8-5, making great money and love it! The majority of the world works for companies other than Verizon. You can find a job making just as much and a better schedule. Trust me!
I agree. It's been about 5 months since I was let go...Huge relief in life. No drama, no bs from DMs and others who will backstab u for their own good. No more dealing with a greedy company who is only about their money. My advise is to not get back into the retail life to possibly get into the same predicament later on. Looks for long term goals and stability. Money is not everything.
If monetary compensation isn't your thing, I guess you must be right about life after VZ.

It's so true. I came from a smaller company to Verizon and my quality of life went down since working for Verizon. If I am gone today I will look for a job in a smaller company where everyone's voice is heard and probably a more fun company to work for. Best wishes everyone!! :-))
