Sorry, you're right, I guess I should have been more specific.

In this statement, "they" did not refer to my immediate GM, but to higher levels of management that would set out the generic development plan and strategic goals for any given role in the company.

Awhile back it was suggested on this site that the RSS position was merely created to see the rest of the stores through their wSAP conversion, with the idea that wSAP is able to replace those that work hard on inventory management. It may be true, it may not be, but I tend to believe it. When I completed my PA&D with my new manager this year, there was no clear development plan for the RSS role. At the time it was explained away as "because it's so new" but in hindsight, they didn't bother trying to come up with a game plan for us because they knew it'd be over sooner than later. Perhaps there is more vision than we give them credit for.
