The business model is currently unsustainable. Our retail staff is paid much more that our indirect partners. It makes sense to sub-contract this role. Eliminate inventory and focus on our real product, the network. Call centers, tech support and retail are all in the crosshairs right now.

Retail is in the cross hairs? Maybe, we can always run leaner. But to say that the business can run from a call center? You enjoy your comfy cubicle while you type this. Sales is the life source of this company, nothing happens until someone sells something so relax on the retail is getting "phased out". It's sad to see layoffs but that's business. You're a number, you produce or you go. If you want a friend go hand make jewelry at the farmers market.

In the end something has to give. If the union keeps everyone's jobs, and profits are going down, what gives? Yes, exec pay, but in reality that doesn't go all that far spread over all the employees. And they could join a union too!

Retail is in cross hairs and will slowly shrink over time. Unions aren't the answer. Unions negatively affected Verizon's bottom line last yr. They didn't create these layoffs but certainly sped up the process

Verizon would be similar to a small player in today's market if they did that. Doesn't seem like a viable option, as Verizon is not comparable to Cricket Wireless, who operates mostly out of indirect locations. A piece of the network is corporate controlled service. Also, Cricket has a "real product/ Network" too.
