Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Compensated for overtime or time on weekends or evenings?

AT&T is selfish like all the rest of these money hungry companies seeking more and more to fill and line their own pockets! My husband a devoted father gave his every fiber to this company for 22 years!! I can remember family vacations and family dinners where he "excused himself" to handle a problem after hours or do a deposit waiver!!! So so many times the job was always there.

Did he every get compensated for overtime or time on weekends or evenings? Of course not! They preach "work life balance" big joke!! They start the new year with their typical BS and then oh surprise HR conference call, oh btw/ you are all losing your jobs and your last day officially is March 31st!

Great way to ring in the new year! I will be transferring all of my phone lines over to one of the competitors asap. The thought of giving these crooks any more of my business sickens me! "Restructuring they call it" or "making changes for the better" they call it!

When you take someone's job who has devoted 22 years to you and helped you put millions of dollars into your already full pockets to sit I your corporate offices with all your money, that's not restructuring. That's Greed!

to the OP sorry for your husband's job. AT&T offers severance not because they are such great people but because you waive the right to sue if you accept the severance. AT&T buys everyone's silence because it's a better option than fighting with them for years to possibly allow ex employees to get more money.

LOL this isn't about running a business! It's about greed, corruption and incompetence. National Retail and AR numbers are in the toilet right now and instead of blaming the big decision makers responsible for the cutbacks they are blaming market conditions and the fact that they "don't want a race to the bottom" on pricing. It also would have taken a couple creative mycoach reports run to see who started or ended their day at 2PM or to really dig into Geofence data to see who actually went into a store. They could have audited all types of behavior because they have the tools as a big data company to do so but they never, ever did. Never have i seen a company promote so many people with atrocious sales numbers and lay off the producers or eliminate critical or beneficial jobs.

Just like in any industry, sometimes roles will become no longer necessary. It isn't personal, it's part of business. If companies don't evolve and stay competitive, they will be crushed by the competitors that are willing to. Many people are layed off from their jobs elsewhere and aren't given months notice, severance pay, or healthcare for 6 months.

Has your husband been attempting to find another role during this time? He has been applying to go back into the retail stores? RSCs do not make much less than what RAEs do. The move wouldn't be more than a $10k or so cut. In addition he would get overtime pay, bargained benefits, and won't be bothered anymore during family time.

I switched my phone to a competitor years ago because the coverage was dramatically better, even with the small employee discount it was not a bargain for what you got.
