Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Wake Up Verizon! Millenials Hate You.

Do the people currently running this company have their heads so far up their own butts that they cannot see Millenials hate them?

Instead of throwing money around like drunken sailors on shore leave, how about leaving the echo chamber for five minutes and taking a serious inventory of our public image?

We take out embarrassing ads in the newspaper every time the Govt. does something our company does not agree with and every time we have a labor dispute. Frankly, it makes us look greedy and whiny.

I doubt it impresses young people when a wealthy company publicly whines when things don't go their way. Labor disputes and Govt regulations are simply a part of this business and will be for some time, our upper management are being well compensated, and company is profitable so why all the crying? A lot of small business have gone under with less tears and whining. It really is embarrassing.

We don't treat our customers with real respect in wireless or in wireline.

Respect for the customer does not mean middle management endlessly tormenting low level customer-facing employees and making them miserable. I know that is the program, but the truth is our customers do not really care about that.

Respect for the customer means giving them a fair deal that is easy for them to understand, not deceiving them in the fine print and not ripping them off like we are used-car salesmen.

It means we keep our word; when we say unlimited data we mean unlimited data.

When we say we are maintaining the copper network, we really maintain that network.

Customers care a lot about those things. Even if millenials don't use copper POTS lines, their Grandma might. Are we going to get their business by shafting Grandma?

Millenials, like most generations of young people are idealistic. They are not going to be impressed by a company that is so obviously and publicly self -serving, that takes public stands against net nuetrality on the grounds of... "Freedom of speech" ? ....(What?)

They aren't going to be impressed that our CEO called their favorite candidate "contemptible" and in a forum that allowed anyone to respond and prove him wrong. How is this good strategy? Are we seeking the business of all millenials, or trying to change them politically? Verizon will not be considered a "cool" brand if this is our public image. Period.

It actually may be too late for Verizon to succeed in this market with the damage that has been done to our brand. But could we try for once to be the company we say we are? A company we can be proud of?

The kids are not as dumb as you think they are. Remember who first spotted the emperor wearing no clothes.
