Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Good luck to those tomorrow/today on 1/19.

Good luck tomorrow. I really hope it's nowhere as bad as many are reporting hear and elsewhere.

We are 100% here, managers no need talk to poor engineers individually, LOL

Sounds like it was a lot more than 100 from sparc between Burlington and CA. Did you go to work today?

I don't think most employers would mind waiting 2 months if you're the right candidate.

the actual termination is 2 months from today. this is the latest I heard from my coworker that just got axed. the catch is that if you find another job tomorrow, you can't work or you will lose the 2 months severance pay

I am in Burlington, MA. I was not let go today but a lot of people I work with were. I was told not to go in b/c it is going to be sad. I don't have an exact number but I'm guessing more than 100 altogether (CA+Burlington) from SPARC hardware.

I work in SPARC hardware ... my manager said about 30% are being let go in burlington and about 50% in CA today

I am having my 1:1 late morning in my building. My coworker is having 1:1 in another building at 9am. Highly probable that my coworker is getting the axe. Even if I am spared, I am really not sure if it is worth my time to stay since there are rumors about more lay offs 6months down the road.

Appreciate the nice-ness of wishing people good luck even at this hour..

So many nice people working at Sun, makes me a little depressed...

I remember that from the Sun Micro days. Boxes stacked up and all the conference rooms would be booked...but at least they cared about people a little bit more.

A good stack of boxes delivered today. No doubt this is happening on 1/19.
