Because the company is the cheapest corporation. BR is the most laughable place I have ever seen. The place where you can walk around and see empty cubes everywhere yet you show up at 8:01 and there's no parking spots left and no conference rooms available. I believe Marni and Diego have some of there people out in NYC but other than that not many. It's unfortunate. Honestly, the company probably loses out on some milenial talent with their HQ being in BR.
No matter what Verizon does to tell the world and its employees it is a "technology" company that is cool and hip like Facebook and Google, it will always be an old, bloated telecom with too much debt, paying out too much in dividends and unable to innovate and compete just like AT&T. If it was at all serious its HQ would be in the San Francisco area but instead its HQ is in the BR toilet.
The company only cares about the "executive" shareholder value. And that view is completely short-term since they are all multi-millionaires.
The VZ RIF rate for college hires in my program was over 75% (i'm still here somehow).
The only millennials they are interested in are the ones that will work for 1/4 the cost.
This company cares about shareholder value. That is it.
