District 9 Strike in CA

Due to the rain storm patterns arriving every week the T is buried in repair tickets. Now is the time to strike to get a good contract that they are not wanting to offer! The company is making billions in profits but continue with the takeaways. The time is now to stand up to the greedy company!! Loaners from other states should not be coming to help out the company!

Haha! Strike? CWA is a joke. They vacation in resorts while "negotiating" your no strike clause contracts, agree to allow your replacement by contractors in the second sentence of the contract, never ask you what you want in your new contract, never post anything about what's happening in the "negotiation" on their website or anywhere else, and just magically agree to the contract without you ever voting on it. I'm not saying these things happened where you are, but they do here all the time. It's glaringly obvious that the union is no longer any different than management.

Loaner clarification regarding district 9

CWA / AT&T Bargaining Bulletin #69

January 13, 2017

CWA/ AT&T Bargaining Bulletin #69 January 13, 2017

The Union and the Company have agreed to allow CWA loaners from other Districts into District 9 to assist with the storm condition trouble tickets, in an effort to restore service to customers. As a Quid Pro Quo we were able to achieve some additional benefits for our members working overtime. Please welcome our CWA Union Brothers and Sisters to District 9. Each Local will have the ability to have “Meet and Greet Meetings” which would be a good time to educate the Loaners of our current contract fight with AT&T. Inform the Loaners of all safety policies and company procedures. Quality work is what we expect from our Members and the Out of State Loaners.

The details of the agreement are:

  1. Late technicians in Appendix A can come in 3 hours before their tour. Early technicians in Appendix A can come in at 7a.m.

Technicians can work up to 14 hours per day 7 days a week. The workers have to sign Waivers if working over 72 hours a week.

Other workgroups can be included in the overtime.

A Service Emergency will not be declared at this time.

Going forward in October of each year the Union and the Company will meet to discuss potential storm conditions. TheOvertime Oversight Committee will effectuate the meeting. We have not had Storm Prep Meetings in years. So getting this

agreed to, is good for the Locals and its members.

The Locals will be given time to meet with all out of state loaners.

The Union Bargaining Chair will be given storm outage numbers daily.

A direct contact in Horace Starr’s organization is available for Locals’ issues. For any questions please reach out to your Union Representatives and or Local Union Officers.

The loaners are coming because of the rain. There is no strike and if there was the loaners would get sent back there will be no crossing lines by anyone.

Loaner? Nope, you'll be volun-told you're leaving your cubicle and family behind for some undetermined amount of time. At least no one gets rif'd while they are out on strike duty, they save that for later.

Contracts have already been determined. Any strike action is just meant to make craft feel good about themselves. We have been doing this for years, so wake up.
