Carrot for RAEs?

During the announcement call for RAEs yesterday the HR person spoke of "new opportunities " rolling out for RAEs in the near future, but was very cryptic. Now my ARSM is treating us as BAU, and telling us that "how we conduct ourselves and the character that we show during this tough time will dictate if we are considered for the new positions." Is anyone else still doing store visits? Does anyone know anything about these supposed new positions, or if this one last carrot that they're dangling in front of us to get us to perform through January until we're replaced with the new system?

That is the same speech we got last year, and all I was offered was a COR store rep which was my DOS pulling strings for me. I declined as I no longer desire to work for the company. Your replacements have already been hired and start Feb 1. So no need to go out doing your visits, and there will no be any jobs available for you either. We were told positions would be posting early June which never happened. Enjoy the time off and find something outside of AT&T as quickly as possible.

Career Path? What a joke you fool. Management posting again to get you to respond. What jobs?

Omg what corporate fool wrote that response? There is no BAU as the channel has been eliminated. What would you like us to do? Pretend all is well? It's not as we are being replaced with workers that they will pay less. Do you get it now? What ARSM wrote that is a good guess. Eh ghads

Surplus possibility or not, you're still on payroll so BAU should be expected. If there is one chance they'll pull reporting and use it against you, don't be the one. Most RAE's got to where they are by proving they are the best of the best, don't let the anticipation of what's next get in the way of ethics. If for no other reason do it for your retailers that you may find yourself working beside later. Use your spare time to get in to Career Path and start looking for other positions. Don't wait until everyone has severance letter in hand, it will be too late. I went through five surplus positions and always knew the best effort would pay off. It wasn't until July '16 that I had been through enough and rode it out to unemployment, throwing the towel in two years before retirement. Pick your poison, it's just as ugly outside of At&T. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

This cut will have an enormous trickle down effect. Knowledge about services and systems will be lost. Out sourcing will never replace the training and problem solving these managers provide. Customer service will be a thing of the past. This is a sad day for ATT.

(OP) yeah, that's what I figured. He keeps saying things like "I don't kno w what they're going to do, but I'd be willing to bet that it has something to do with DTV." I really want to call him out on his BS (I have for years), but there's no upside to burning a bridge. I'll just keep driving for dollars and working the mileage until it dries up.

There are no other opportunities within the company. This line is being used to keep you visiting stores in hopes of something to come....which it wont. Now that the surplus has been declared there is not much they can do to enforce visits. Keep in mind they will try to keep things as BAU but they aren't. We are being eliminated and nothing will change that no matter what smoke they blow. The time is yours to use as you see fit and don't fall into that trap. Otherwise they are going to work you to the bone until the last day. The retailers all knew this was coming some time ago so nothing was a surprise.
