It's clear by now (Jan 6th) that something big is going on in North American sales (RG, JO, SA) Hundreds of people have been laid off every day/week in every department, whether you are in Apps, Tech, Hardware...
Major org heads have left or have been made to leave. New compensation plans are being issued, commissions are late and inaccurate.
Typically this only happens in June and December, but who knows when this rolling austerity will end!!

The Purge Rule is that if you don't answer email or answer the phone on the 19th, then you will still have your job on the 20th. You just have to board up your house because they will send people to knock on your door. Going to Starbucks might not be a bad idea for the day.

Oracle does not give away HW. That's not true. They aren't IBM who has been known to do that. All of Oracle's business units run independent with some collaboration.
What a lot of people seems to forget is that Oracle because of the HW make huge profits on software licenses. The give away the hardware almost for nothing knowing they make year over year profit on the software licenses. For Oracle the hardware is a good way to get software money in.
Yes the HW sale has declined but mainly because of this give away system and because Oracle don't care much about single server sale. Without the engineered systems Oracle would have never sold so maybe DB and RAC licenses and even with that its going down as the trend is moving to Cloud. Which is just a IT cycle there only have to come one big hack in the cloud and everyone wants to have his HW again in his own datacenter. Don't say that will never happen, the banks thought the same when russians stole millions of dollars recently.

Wallstreet cares about stock price the whole company could be torn to pieces they could cre less as long as it pays out. Heard of jack welsh? LE can sell oracle off his part to piste firm or a number of options. He knows there's only one way and it's down for oracle. Send in the second string.
Wall st knows that MH run HP into the ground, he has no credibility. LE cannot sell out as longs as he's alive. LE's brain must be going to mush or he wouldn't have MH around.
Additionally MH is there to get'er done. And won't leave until it's finished. Oracle was headed on a bad path anyway. MH will just expedite the process...
Wall Street considers MH a billion dollar CEO. That's why LE hired him and because Larry needs to retire and collect his billions. Just how do you think that's gonna happen? It's going to be a couple year process. LE is good to divest soon. Probably why he put his two largest investments under the Oracle umbrella! Mark my words no new innovation!

With Mark running things, it's like a sick old dog. It's suffering. They just need to bite the bullet and put the dog out of its misery by giving Mark his walking paper and golden parachute. It's obvious especially in light of HP that he has no clue what he is doing. OD is a disaster. HW is a disaster. The Class of program is a disaster. Frankly, he is a disaster.
He's just hanging on as long as he can to collect those $50+ million dollar pay days. The longer he sticks around, the more toxic and irrelevant Oracle becomes. He's like that homeless friend that you invite to live with, but then you can't get rid of him. Larry shouldn't have taken him in once HP threw him out.

Be careful using Aria. They monitor usage and they can figure out who might be using it more than normal. They also have analytics and if you write the same way here as you do in their emails, they might find it. Be extra careful. You may even want to use a web proxy and incognito mode in your browser when you post. Oracle is not afraid to file lawsuits much like Donald Trump to silence dissent.
Scott Genereux is out and being replaced by Eric Shefler who will be reporting to Rich Geraffo. Joanne Olsen used to report to MH but now reports directly to Rich Geraffo now too.

Good summary. Many at Oracle are in deep denial. They need to look at HP to see how this starts and ends. MH is the grim reaper of tech but he'll squeeze out some money for investors at least he did in the past. I don't see that happening at Oracle. I think he got handed a bad situation. I don't think he can squeeze much performance out unless they do some drastic layoffs. When you're own sales people are saying the product doesn't sell, how do you think the customer see's Oracle's products?

we used to make very good money and we had some decently loyal and satisfied customers. now our biz loses money due to an inability to compete based on product/price
as a result many of us are only paid our base salary as commissions are improperly calculated and adjusted to negative numbers every month!
it has been trickling worse and worse like this for 2-3 years
