Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RAE Layoffs Today

All Retail Account Executives and National Retail Account Executives cut today. Roughly 600 jobs cut nationwide that only support third party ATT points of distribution . As some disclosed even a year ago, National Retail (aka Walmart and Best Buy) will have no more ATT corporate support and will only have third party support, while Authorized Retailers (aka ATT dealers) will be supported by AT&T ARSMs who already have company owned stores under their distribution. This is the beginning of large company owned stores getting converted to authorized retail. AR locations are losing their AR signs, which means just matter of time for that switch and layoffs in COR. Look for RSCs and SSRs to be cut in next union contract. ARSM will be a horrible and stressful job going forward and ATT sales will suffer when third parties cant call anyone consistently for help. Third party dealers/AR recruiting many laid off RAEs which will help those third parties be more like ATT

The article indicates that this is "the beginning". It is not. This is more like the middle. They been doing this reorg b---s--- for the past 5 years. ALL of my coworkers and friends have lost their jobs over the past 5 years do to some grand plan these greedy bastards have. They do it slow and methodical so it never makes headlines, therefore never affecting the stock or customer base. It would look pretty bad if Att fired 20,000 people at once. People might not like that. But if you do it slow and steady over the course of 10 years, no one ever notices. To those who think they can sue Goliath, you're not David. If you really want to do something, draw media attention to it.

Stop trying to waste your time suing, the only people making money from that are lawyers. Take your severance and move the hell on to bigger and better things. You're getting paid to quit!

After the third go around, the ones that made the first few cuts, are all gone now... What (if any) can be done about being relocated after the last shift!? I was moved to a whole new market, only 6 months later to have this happen! The surveys, people first, 2020 talk, has all been for nothing obviously. Graduating RMDP Emerging Leader for what? Let's see where and what the next 60 billion dollar investment is...

Stick together and do try to meet with an employment lawyer. There are other suits in the works related to issues outside of layoffs so turning the tables on AT&T who believe they are invincible and think they have themselves shielded from suits. I heard it's going to be quite a year for AT&T. Have facts, documentation and do your homework on the legal firms. Best of luck to all affected .

I'm a DM from an AR. I've been working with my AE's and ARSM's for 7 years. They're like family to me. This is breaking my heart.... I have no words.

We have given this company everything and now this ! What we need to do is stand toghether and figure out a way to sue the company since most of us were not salary based and we were always on the clock working countless hours unpaid to make sure we were in good standing with the comapny. The pay cuts the change on commission everything was leading to this!!! complete disbelief

It is so sad. I loved my job as an RAE & was good at it. I had great relationships with my stores & my area was extremely successful. After the announcement was made to AR my stores were in a panic. ARSMs will not be able to support AR the way we did. No disrespect to the ARSMs but they already had enough on their plate. This was not a wise move. Especially for a company that likes to say it is so employee focused. This was not just a job for me. I had every intention of retiring with AT&T.

Maybe ARSMs will actually have to work now instead of showing up for an hour then leaving to pick kids up from school.

Wow what a joke! So now the ARSM will handle everything? Never going to work!
