Ours is non-existent. Has been out once in the past year. Cancels 3/4 of bi-weekly meetings and 1/4 of regional calls. Seldom responds to emails, so I've mostly stopped sending them. Just curious if this is standard across the company or something unique to our store.

NYC Region 39 the worst
Just reading up on all this here and I think R93 is Region 93. After doing some researching on the QUAD it doesn't take a genius to figure out that they are referring to Amy Turpin and John Palmer. If these post are anonymous then why should we care???
My RM definitely hates me, he's trying to find a reason to fire me, but is coming up empty handed. Verbally barrated me in public for false allegations and minor things. Has an aura of anger and intimidation, but he feigns friendliness on conference calls and talking to campus folks. I'm pretty tired of it honestly. Slash our benefits and treat us like dogs. Why stay?
I agree. I'm a AM at one of RM JP stores and he overlooked me for promotion. He hired a stupid person far less qualified than me.
JP a mediocre SM? He is the worst SM ive ever known. He claims to know so much and always offers his assistance. When he is helpful, he is demeaning and his responses to you are as if he's speaking to a 2 year old (which is very insulting). The other times ive asked for his assistance and he doesnt know the answer, i always get referred to his Ops Mgr. I understand that as an SM we have so much on our plate and that it isnt always feasible to know EVERYTHING. But, when you've been w/a company for over 10 years and still default to your Ops Mgr for assitance to help other SM's when they have a simple question, there is something definitely wrong w/that picture. Maybe he should look at retirement soon...if you dont know what you're doing by now after 10+ years then get out and let someone who does know run the show...
AT a better RM? Well, for as long as ive known AT as a Neebo RM and now as a Follett RM, she needs to go. She hasnt changed one bit. She didnt care about any of her stores or their managers when she was w/Neebo and it seems like old habits do die hard. She's never around, she only tells you what you want to hear to seem like she cares and wants what is best for you, she's a typical salesperson...says what needs to be said to appease her managers. I didnt care for her then and i still dont care for her now. How about she take one for the team and step down and let someone who really knows the business and truly cares for their team to take over...
Wow. That's one of the better RMs. You have no idea how bad it is elsewhere!
AT was a horrible store manager at ACCD and JP was mediocre. Who is R93?
R93JP&AT need to go!!!!!!!!!
There is no doubt that there are some very good RMs that are supportive and mentor their managers and staffs to become successful with demonstrating exceptional customer service to students and college professors and administrative staff/ and maximize financial results for their stores. However, all too often RMs are evaluated for their "gifts of communication" - meaning their ability to BS their superiors. Look at RMs that were promoted to GVP - especially those promoted out of JCs groups. A lot of talk, and not much substance.
It seems that RM's arent required to have knowledge of much of anything these days. No college degree, lets make them an RM so all they do all day is travel most of the day and only spend a couple of hours in a store and spending those 2 hours talking about their personal business (who cares) and not focus on the real needs of the store. No knowledge of how any of the systems work, lets make them an RM so they just look at reports all day, that they get from someone else in the company, yet dont really know what those reports mean and want to know what the store is doing about taking care of those issues (efollett orders not being done timely, or the difference between why something gets zero picked or cancelled for example). Doesnt like to handle HR issues, lets make them an RM so they can ignore issues that are brought to their attention regarding the lack of respect a SM has for their staff. Hhhmmm, maybe i should become an RM so i can work from home and spend most of my day traveling the open road seeing all the wonders of the great world we live in...
How can an RM without a college degree have credibility with professors and college administrative staff?
When you have an RM that lives in the same city as 8 of her stores and barley visits any of them and is always out of town on a weekly basis visiting those other stores instead. How is that saving the company any money? If she actually spent any time in our store she would actually see that the SM is making crap up about how busy the store is and how he needs more labor hours in order to operate the store successfully. Well, if the SM actually worked then there wouldnt be a need for any additional labor hours to get the job done. RM's need to wake up and really see what goes on when they are not around. How about showing up unannounced to see what really happens...but, seems like our RM doesn't really care.
The best answer I ever got from an RM as to why an RM or GVP did not invite managers to campus meeting was "we like to promise things we have no intention of doing". Funny, I wonder why we lose contracts?
Funny, I never see mine either but I consider that a good thing. Who wants there boss around all the time?
My RM isn't qualified for the position. She's a hypocrite about who we hire but yet she doesn't have the requirements. So when my boss says I need to make sure and hire an ASM who meets all the requirements including education(College Degree). Oh! So its okay for my RM not to have a college degree. Yea sure okay....
I agree with the statement about RM JP. I've seen the way he has treated another more senior manager in the region and it's not good (and this person does their job extremely well). He is horrible at responding to emails and phone calls and when he's in your store he's tied up with other work more important than my store (and I only see him once, maybe twice a year). He does have his favorites though and they seem to get fair treatment from him and have good access to him when they need him. It's sad to see the state of the company and how there is so much of a lack of support across the board. I sure hope we are at a turning point and we see some improvements soon.
What the heck does your RM not having a college degree have to do with anything?
I have worked with MANY college degreed people and they were dumb as dumb can be.
A college degree does not make you smarter or above a non degreed person.
My last manager was non degreed and had more common sense compared to the degreed one I have now.
My RM JP hardly ever replies to emails and he ignores my store for the most part. He thinks I ask too many questions and it irritates him.
I like my RM, he stays involved with my store, has weekly conference calls, responds to emails & phone calls. I feel I talk openly & honestly with him.
It's not even about in-person visits. It's about a complete lack of support and involvement. Our RM will occasionally have meetings with the campus, to which I am not invited, and not even bother to stop by the store or bother to ask me about what's going on before they have discussions on our behalf. We also have issues with our planners. Constantly out of stock on merchandise and will take 3-4 "Following up" emails before we get a response and another 2 months (or more) to get products in stock.
Like BR ?
RM's generally have restricted travel with all the various cuts unless they can drive to your store and be back home at night. The funny thing is there are RM's that can go home at night and still never visit their stores or when they finally do they cut your visit super short because the traffic will be bad getting home. Guess they need to get home to watch the WC sunset or go surfing.
My RM doesnt have a college degree. So I'm not quite sure how she is an RM......
What Region are you in? My RM has been to my store about 6 times since Fall 2016. She participates in conference calls and always responds to my calls and emails.
