I think a lot of conspiracy theorists post on this site. Maybe it's a lot of older employees that add no value to the company? With that being said I think the long term goal of Verizon will be to lower the amount of retail locations and the staff within them. They are building smaller stores on the west coast for quick order pickups and account maintenance. They are also approving more indirect stores. This would point to, at least in my eyes, the shrinking of direct retail stores eventually. I know in CP05 (retail district on the west coast) that they are not filling positions for Solutions Managers that have transferred positions or left the company. B and C stores in this district are now running on 2 Solution Managers and the two A stores (1 of them being a Smart Store) are running on 3. So the fears of a mass shut down of stores... I don't see that happening but the slow closures over years... highly likely. for the Solution Manager headcount reduction... it's already starting but not through layoffs but through attrition. I feel bad for people trying to move up in the retail channel because it's not growing, it's shrinking.

Don't be fooled they have been doing that for years!!
Wireless director was heard saying he could hire 3 chimpanzees to do our jobs, this was when we were at 150-300% of quota.
No loyalty !
Yeah... right ! I just keep hearing that there are going to be massive layoffs, but haven't heard of any on the store level in my area... maybe just a few people that were targeted and let go for "unknown circumstances". Just don't know if I should be actively looking for alternate employment; as I was browsing sales jobs, low and behold there was a job posting for retail store sales consultant... why hire new people when there are plans to lay off current employees? This company confuses me. Opinions?
I was betting on January 27th but that didn't pan out. I guess these stores will just stay open forever since they are so cheap to run and Verizon is growing so quickly right?
