Stupid question, but are "surplused" employees still entitled to the company performance bonus for the period which he/she worked there before being laid off (say, Jan to Sept 2016) although the bonus is not paid until March 2017, well after employment has ended?

Nope - and no final pay for my last 2 days, and no severance that was promised - thanks for nothing after 18 years ATT
I worked thru Aug 2016 and have not received my bonus check. I figured they would find some way to get out of paying it to me.
Thanks for the quick response and "Congratulations " on finding a job! I too am glad the "cloud of surplus" was removed. I have not started my search yet as I needed a couple of months to step back and regroup but working with RiseSmart in the interim. Again, congrats!
I just received mine in the mail today. It was more than I expected. While I did not wish to be surplussed I was happy to receive the check. And I already found another job making the same amount of money as AT&T. It was not easy to find another position but my persistence paid off. The best part is I no longer have to live through quarterly layoffs.
Any 2016 surpluses former employees receive bonus today yet?
I got the call that I qualified for Summit but must be on the payroll in May when it happens. What a joke. There are no jobs to be had.
I have it in an email from HR
I had assumed no. I'm pleasantly surprised by this. Now I hate AT&T with only 99% of my soul.
Yes I was let go at the end of last October, and I still got the bonus sent to me in a check.
You will get a bonus check but it will be prorated based on how much of 2016 you worked.
Yes, there would be no difference
What if he/she retired in October in 2016, would they still get a check.
Yes, the company wouldn't deny us a bonus for the work and time we were employed.
Yes, you shoul receive the check after the pay out
