Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Finally see the light with this company

im a legacy DIRECTV employee and i drank the kool aid for the first year just because they hyped up unity and one goal, etc

recently though they have moved around all the legacy DTV people i know and replaced them with T people.

Since then, its been a nightmare. Micro managing, budget cuts, way over the top quotas. i feel like im working twice as much for less pay.

Also, they told us you need to be willing to move for the company or you wont get promoted. Also my buddy was turned down for a job because they needed a female on the staff. WTF

I think the problem is from an outsiders prospective is: most of the AT&T legacy people i met are lifetime employees. its all they know and they are brainwashed. Its such a bad work environment

they dont know the light is brighter on the other side. Oh and more layoffs are coming. we were told May is a large surplus

Unfortunately the worst is yet to come. I truly believe the majority feels this way. Why are people so afraid to write Randall. All he hears is the BS that comes from his leadership team. Seriously, I know someone that did it and didn't have to get a lawyer to get paid or get the job they wanted. Lastly, why isn't the HR, EEO and outside EEO not working overtime to investigate the counter culture behavior that goes on here. At the minimum- file it anonymously. They still have to investigate it. Threaten to leak facts to the media and see what happens..

Just like Bellsouth, DirecTV and the TW newcomers , they will face the harsh reality of working for this company, This is rarely good news for about 90% of the staff. Sure, management is fine. After all, they negotiated the deal. But whether you were sold or merged, the outcome is the same…changes will be made across the board. A merger means duplication of many jobs. Duplication = redundancy. Being sold means new management, and they always have new plans for the company. New plans that includes cutbacks and layoff. Basically, watch your back if there's a new name on the front door, we'd experienced and so you will very soon.

: Unfortunately AT&T's pay structure is highly regimented and at best not entirely based on merit. Personally, I know many that achieved the highest numbers within my work group and although They received high performance reviews in achieving the goals of the business, gotsatisfactory remarks in their leadership areas, and did not get the salary increase, but eventually most were cut. I personally have a low salary compared to those in my work group, that is why I am still here!

Agreed. Directv was a great company where management actually cared for their employees and you felt like a team. ATT is the complete opposite and a nightmare to work for since day one of the buyout. It feels like all ATT cares about is money and how to make more of it.

Same is happening with legacy B, replaced by Leg T workers, even if they were not match in knowledge, skill and competence, very sad

It's pretty crazy. Old ways at DIRECTV our boss would be in the field with us helping us grow

Now with AT&T they sit in their offices all day and send us reports due by that day and call us all day wondering why sales are down

Maybe if they let us do our jobs they would be up

It's amazing how they buy a highly profitable company and are going to completely destroy it

We were good at our jobs but they would rather bring their own in and destroy it

It's unreal seeing everyone at meetings interact. They all drink the kool aid and think T is the best company in the world.

Extreme micro-management by mid-level executives is a hallmark of T.

ahh you nailed it with this post. I was an external hire when I first started with ATT - actually hired under the cingular umbrella then two weeks later pulled under ATT. I hear you on the "one ATT" mantra....it's their way or the highway though.

If you think you'll get a good severance package then I'd just hold on for the ride.
