Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

GOt mine today, so long Friends

Re: AT&T Surplus Notification Letter

Throughout the past several weeks we have been evaluating certain business units within the AT&T family of companies. After a thorough and careful review, we have determined that the position which you currently hold will be eliminated. This is due to a reduction in positions within your level and organization. As a result of this decision, you will be placed on surplus status, effective the day following the date that appears at the top of this letter, and you may receive severance benefits if you meet the eligibility criteria.

The following resources are provided for your reference:

• Separated Nonbargained Employee Support Package − information on the benefits available to you if you leave the company – Information Only

• Severance Pay Plan − Information Only

• A customized General Release & Waiver (GR&W) − Action Required

• A customized Severance Pay Computation (not applicable to Puerto Rico) – Information Only

• Information required by the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) – Information Only

• Election of Surplus Option − Action May Be Required

• Request to Defer Severance Allowance − Action May be Required

• Preliminary Election of the Management Transition Program (MTP) Option − Action May be Required

• Outplacement Flyer outlining the career transition services available to you – Information Only

• Details regarding Information Sessions for Surplus Employees – Information Only

These resources are available to you online via the Nonbargained Surplus Employee website (NSG website).

To register for access to this site, click Register. You will be provided a user ID that is unique to this site and you will be asked to create a password. When you have completed the registration process, you may access the documents via the NSG website. Once you are logged in, select the Surplus Employee Checklist. Then select Update Personal Data. You’ll be asked to provide your personal email address, which is necessary in order to acknowledge your General Release & Waiver online. Once you’ve completed these initial steps, you will be able to access all the necessary resources from an AT&T work location, your home, or other external location. This site will remain accessible to you for up to 97 days following your last day on payroll. Detailed instructions related to the registration process and accessing the NSG website are attached to this letter.

In light of their importance, you must access the resources listed above within one week of the date of this letter.

I have not yet received unemployment which was filled out and verified with CA state unemployment offices. They told me something on the paperwork wasn't correct. I contacted HR onestop and they gave me the correct address to attach to my paperwork. Still nothing has come. Also I have yet to receive my severance. I have now been a month without pay. Has anyone received their severance and any advice on CA unemployment? Thank you.

Stupid question, but are "surplused" employees still entitled to the company performance bonus for the period which he/she worked there before being laid off (say, Jan to Sept 2016) although the bonus is not paid until March 2017, well after employment has ended?

I'm sorry to hear about this happening. I believe that something else will come up that is a better deal. Don't get discouraged, put together a plan and execute it immediately.

Keep moving forward with your search, you will do well my friend,

Very sorry to hear. Sickening the chiefs still get their excessive pay of course.

Hug your family often, they are what matters.

Look at the ADEA. The very bottom will summarize. What is the org (listed at the top), total and selected. divide the selected by the total to get an overall % for your org. I can tell you mine was 8.6% (to be gone by 3/31).

Not that it matters... The jobs on CareerPath are slim pickings unless you 1) want to move and 2) want to step up to a lvl 2 or higher. Was sent an Excel file export of "open" jobs where over 3/4 were closed or simply removed from CP.

Notices like this still have a gut level impact, even if you are glad to get it or if someone else gets it.
