att converted my store to an AR store pretty quickly. I had to relocate my RSCs far away to other stores and ship all my inventory off to other cor stores. very, very sad. i miss my 8 minute commute to work. the dealer got a great deal on the lease and now they are pushing ridiculous ops through the store to make money. the leases go quick and some dealers ARE ready to pick up the pace. Who is ready to ride the wave of dealers? I am not. Sh--ty benefits and when your reps get paid 9 bucks an hour, they just dont give a f--- about anything.

It's a mixture of both. Depends if there are AR buyers for level 2 stores doing well (not every authorized retailer is in a position to expand -they have leases too) and unprofitable level 1 will be on the closure list. Leases also come into play. Could make more sense to keep a nonprofitable level 1 store open if lease is up soon and close it then. Keep in mind AT&T is the worst negotiating leases ....not every AR wants to take on a crazy rent.

Hey DBC,

Do you know what targets a store for closure?

Rent, numbers, value to agent?

managers are being told to minimize and shrink headcount before a surplus is needed. They don't want to keep tenured reps bc the cost is too high and often they feel those reps are not promotable. Yes they are being told to target behaviors and discipline track based of those areas that have seen increased emphasis like small business, walk out watching and smart checks. (revised headcounts were given recently to DOS and Arsm) Targets are end of first Quarter. I'm not bargained, but I'd highly recommend the CWA to circle their wagons.

Is this in San Diego too?

300 nationally is a VERY low number, I would imagine that's more of either a DOS area or region.

ASM layoff was heard of as early as December so talks if it being early January the earliest is BS. All it takes is to have 1 or 2 people uptop to have friends under them to give them the heads up and it will spread fast.

It's also not all level 1 and 2 stores...it will be a bunch of various reasons from age of store (old gen) to if any AR are in the area. If this does happen, it will be at the end of march when they announce it, but from my understanding the next up are RSM's due to store closing first.

whoever says this guy is wrong is delusional. they are coming. if you doubt this, walk into a COR store and look at all the reps just standing around.

I was bargained in Mobility and was surplusted a while back. No, they do NOT give advanced warning that you will be surplused. Our local union president was notified by Labor Sunday night before our in person meeting Monday. We all had a meeting invite sent to us by someone we'd never heard of before about an hour before they dropped the bomb on us.

Absolutely trolling by an amature that has not sharpened his skill. The store managers were that there would be ASM layoffs on a conference call in early January just 3 hours before the ASM's had the call that layoffs were coming. It would not be discussed in a manager meeting that far in advanced of the reps being told. Nonsense....not saying it's not coming anytime in the future but this wanna be troll has no knowledge.

No, trolling would be more intelligent than this nonsense.

"Someone somewhere on Earth will one day be laid off. 300 people."

Brilliant and helpful analysis. Thank you.

Tell us your region, tell you what position manager told you this, or crawl into a hole and die.

This is useless. Whoever this guy is, he will be laid off soon if he hasn't been already, believe me. It's true! This is utter nonsense. 300 reps quit the company every month, if not more...stupid.

If you think this is trolling all I can say is wait and see. REPS laid off. Not all one location.

In which markets? RSCs being union should have quite a bit of a heads up. It will depend on seniority and if laid off the severance will be more than it was for the ASMs.

I heard that 40% of reps will be gone by June replaced by robots. Robots don't require health insurance

If they blind sided the asms why wouldn't they do the same to reps??? Smh it's coming !

I honestly don't believe this. Not this soon anyways. Think about it, if they were going to cut all of these stores we all would have heard something more concrete than just rumors. I know cuts are coming, but I don't see them just blind siding the reps the same way they did the ASM's.

Hearing this in our area as well. Not looking to close all level 1's. It's based on profitability over the past 1-3 years. The stores that are retained will have headcount reduction more than likely up to 20-30%. I anticipate our VPGM call in the next week to layout the direct impact. They are saying don't work scared....it sounds like ARSMs are making moves and also pushing the good folks that they are looking out for to make moves of their own ahead of this thing. Lots a upper management making moves effective March 1. Take care guys.

This is correct. Level one and level two stores will start their closures and sell-offs.
