I quit AT&T n can tell you other big companies will offer you more n treat you better there is an aura about us that people admire.. we roll with the punches to take care of our customers go do it for a company that will respect you. My happiest day was the week I quit called hr to raise "awareness" got some evil person demoted on my way out. If you have a college degree start looking for a job now look at who is the real competition right now and apply !

Some prem techs that have been there for some time are good....a lot of the new ones have no experience and are lucky to run a jumper correctly & too lazy to climb a pole even when they are pole climbing qualified.

Giga power fiber G pons are installed by Core Mst's. Same with fiber splicing, also Uverse Rg modems are being made for internet customers. Get your facts straight before you post wrong info! By the way if PTs start screwing with fiber your going to have a big cluster nightmare, they don't have the experience or training!... Company just wants to pay someone lower to do our work as an everything Stupid they do!

@1tew; I will shed some insight on what I know about the future of the AT&T Premise Technician. Going forward, is the company pushing new Uverse instead of DirectTV? Are the RG units for Uverse still being manufactured? No and no. The company is pushing television customers toward the DirectTV product. Who installs the DirectTV product, MasTec contractors that's who.

IPDSL and bonded pair IPDSL (landline broadband products) installs are being installed by core technicians more so by the day. I asked someone who should know "What about GPON (Giga Power)?" He said we are doing those now already, and after the next contract in April they will doing most of that work.

I say these things not to frighten you, but only to let you know there is much more going on with this company than your install issues and shady business office practices. With every problem you encounter on a daily basis, there are hundreds you never know about that other groups must resolve.

I apologise for only responding to a concern on this board unrelated to the Mobility issues, I know little about Mobility staffing. I only know they are currently in the cross hairs of the reduction machine. We will all get our chance to dance with the Reaper though. Make your luck the best it can be with the time we left.

@1tew, you are seriously misguided and have a distorted sense of reality. In addition, your spelling is atrocious. It's clear to me that you can only do but so good of a job.

Start with premise tech?? Premise tech are the face of At&t and can handle any department to satisfy the customer. They are entitled to do daily work, plus fix everyone problem. Prem tech fix orders and sales that rep put in trying to make commission. Prem tech should hold highest position since there the one actually doing work, while everyone else is hiding or lieing to customers. What a joke, you lose Prem tech who would do the work?? Retail reps lol

"Cooking the books" is way too strong. Is more like creative maneuvering of a balance sheet.

This is because Randall needed a ews shiny toy.toy because of the declining customers in wireless amd ither areas. What Randall is doing is the next thing to cooking the books by laying people off and buying shiny new toys and the sacking the cash out of them. In other words Randall is cooking the books but he is creative about it.

No, 2020 is still three years away. What's changed, or become more clear, is that in 2020 AT&T will be no more than a nameless dumb pipe operating in the background. Anonymously allowing cool technology companies to flow their product through the AT&T infrastructure and take all the credit.

No one will give a $hit about the AT&T brand. Because no one does today. It's relevance is slipping away faster than it can surplus employees while its leadership is desperately trying to find a way to keep the brand relevant in an era of MVNO's, global devices capable of operating on any network and a growing millennial customer base that hates traditional telcos.

The slow, painful death of AT&T towards 2020 continues...

i have been with the company 22 years, and Historically the more skilled the profesional, the hardest time to hold on to the job after a surplus declarations, . Why is that? But slackers always get a free pass, why is that?

Our director at Global Ordering Jack Duffy once said in one of those "all hands call" "low performers are actually more engaged than high performers. They have less stress. They like their jobs. They talk up the company.", Certainly They’re not looking for a new gig. But they bring minimal value to the organization , I deal with hundreds of them each month– certainly less value than the people who deliver consistent results, day after day, and the company rewards with a layoff

Wait. Something is wrong here.

If that seems unintuitive or just plain wrong, that’s because it is! It means that in 42% of the organizations surveyed, the underachievers are allowed to coast while top employees are taken for granted. No wonder the slackers love their jobs! They’re beneficiaries of a corporate culture that rewards poor performance and undervalues results.

I think he means that this year will be massive layoffs. I wish they will start with associate directors and move up. Leave the people that actually do the work alone
