From the article...

“To keep H-1B workers in one place rather than see them scatter. To point them to a more-than-decent city and airport where they can move their work and live happily and access great public schools. We have this community here in Silicon Valley that we want to preserve and if you look at a map, there are few places other than Vancouver that qualify for this kind of move.”

We “aren’t saying to move on spec but to have a ripcord,” adds Rafer.

"Moving H-1B workers to Vancouver makes sense due to the recent immigration laws"

I got to ask, what recent changes to immigration laws?. If you are referring to the recent Executive Order restricting immigration from seven countries, then probably not, as HI-b visa holders are not coming from those countries in any great volume.

From the article I gather that the Silicon Valley (and I am sure other countries) are preparing for promised coming changes to the H1-B Program. Makes little sense to me as this just increases the cost of keeping that specific worker. In that case wouldn't it be cheaper to hire a local American worker?

Moving H-1B workers to Vancouver makes sense due to the recent immigration laws but Vancouver is the 3rd most expensive place on the planet for housing. There are many much more affordable cities in Canada to setup shop.

Would you pay 949K for this ? :

Good. Leave. Maybe cost of living will close to normalize in this insanely, ungodly expensive area, the Silicon Valley

It must be god awful working for such a company as HPE or CSC. Glad I am out of there. It's just awful what they are doing to common ordinary americans who built these companies to the greatness they were. Good Luck to all those US Based employees.
