The volunteers they want are US employees. Cost for IT work is about 1/3 of the cost here.
Very soon it will be all overseas.
ATT keeps the numbers of employees up without telling exactly where they are or in which country.
Next year the severance payout will be much much ..smaller, after all it is benefit, make sense to leave, plenty of good companies out there looking for Dev professionals
500 volunteers? Or do you mean they will cut 500? If they have 500 volunteers I'm astounded.
Did a broad email go out asking for the volunteers?
I wonder when other parts of IT will get similar offers?
all I can say is I know after my layoff in Tech Dev in 4Q16, that AT&T was asking for volunteers in 1Q17. So far it's about 500.
