@L9ofayB-4ktp Here's why California is an after thought.....Wireline was sold by the company......Wireless getting destroyed by the competition.
Verizon is hemorrhaging wireless customers across the nation. But no state is losing customers more customers than California. and that's all due to its demographics. Tens of Millions of people that just will not pay or just can not afford Verizon's prices. So the growth in California is below Zero percent.
However, on the East coast, Verizon has just seen a surge in the Fiber Wireline Growth 8 percent this year and 12 percent expected next year. Verizon sold its wireline in California, so no growth there at all.
Hence California is a bust in Verizon, therefore, is an afterthought.....and that's funny it should be sold to Joe Blow Wireless if they make an offer,
"California is an afterthought" Yeah tell that to your commander and chief Lowell McDooshbag who thinks this is a technology company. How can the world's 6th largest economy be an afterthought to a company as greedy as Verizon?

Here on the East Coast, The Union runs things and there is 40,000 strong working the fiber, poles, undergrounds, central offices, switches etc.....thet your wireless on

I think 5g ,if it works will eliminate alot of work for the wireline guys that are left.
@2dws Agree, do not know of any consumer that is willing to have hit or miss service. 5G is a fantasy as even 4G s---s in buildings and concrete wall homes.
@L9ofayB-1cxw 5G is more scientific experiment than reality. It’s not so much about gobbling up more bandwidth, and of course, it needs to run over fiber, but boosting the efficiency of the signal through advances in transmission and reception technology. A technological breakthrough is still needed before 5G is a reality. So I do know jack
Also....People will tolerate a hit and miss service with their mobile phones....It's expected at times....people will not tolerate hit and miss service in their homes.

5G will never be fiber. Of course Verizon lied in Boston. They excel in lying. That's their new strategy "Lie because we have lawyers on staff." Meanwhile the RIFs continue.
@1bbi just because you use big words doesn't mean you know jack. Verizon and Boston have already stated that FiOS will be deployed and there was no specific mention of 5G exactly because 5G is years away. 5G needs a lot of fiber anyway - just no drop or trench to the home.
I will elaborate in a nutshell...Verizon lied to the City of Boston as they lied to the City of New York...What else is new. Verizon is telling people of Boston that FIOS is coming to Boston when it's not....It's Verizon 5G wireless/media/internet/phone suite of the future.
The kicker here is Verizon's thinks their 5G network is going to work, The fact is 5G is a myth that they are selling to investors and keeping the thought of moving forward and growing. 5G has never been proven to work at the capacity it needs to, and in this case an entire city. As a matter of fact not even close.
5G is an industry name....nothing more that that...the technology associated with this myth is years away from reality, You just can't move that data containing internet and media that quickly at that quantity and with speeds though the infrastructure and dynamics of a City. Impossible. but At&t and Verizon will keep the dream alive and investors cash flowing in until it does.
Bottom line 5G myth is 10 years away at the earliest from reality if even then. Today's top smartphones on today's top networks lose signal in buildings, Good luck with all three services at that quantity.
